From 15–18 August 2025, Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang (UD), in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Education and Training and IEG Global, is hosting the 25th Vietnam International Mathematical Competition (VIMC 2025).

Attending the Opening Ceremony were Prof. Wen-Hsien Sun, Chairman of the International Committee of the International Mathematics Competition (IMC); Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee; Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training (DoET) and Head of the Organizing Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan, Vice President of the University of Danang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of UD-VKU; members of the Organizing Committee; representatives of relevant departments of UD (Science and International Cooperation; Student Affairs, Corporate Relations and Communications); along with agencies, organizations, associations, and student delegations participating in VIMC 2025.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Wen-Hsien Sun emphasized that Vietnam possesses a long-standing and creatively rich mathematical tradition, consistently ranking among the leading countries in mathematical intellectual achievement. He noted that in recent years Vietnamese students have regularly been in the top tier at international mathematics competitions. VIMC 2025, he said, is not only a contest but also a “bridge” connecting nations and ideas oriented toward the future.

A representative of Da Nang’s leadership affirmed that this prestigious, time-honored international event not only identifies, nurtures, and develops mathematical talent but also provides a forum for exchange, learning, and the sharing of experience across diverse world cultures.
According to DoET Director Le Thi Bich Thuan, mathematical reasoning, logical thinking, and the capacity for international collaboration are core values that Vietnamese and global students alike strive to cultivate—especially in the context of artificial intelligence applications and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

With the slogan “Connecting Minds, Spreading Friendship, Conquering Mathematics,” the 25th Vietnam International Mathematical Competition (VIMC 2025) has truly attracted young mathematical talents to compete in two divisions: Key Stage II (Grades 5–6) and Key Stage III (Grades 7–8).

Each student takes part in two compulsory rounds: the Individual Round and the Team Round. The international organizing committee, coordinated by the Chiu Chang Foundation, is responsible for selecting, compiling, and standardizing the examination papers.
