The Education and Time Newspaper: The University of Danang - Boosting student exchange, building a launchpad for international reach

Leveraging its potential and strengths with a network of over 250 international partners across the globe, the University of Danang (UD)’s international cooperation activities, particularly international student exchange, have been increasingly thriving.

Recently, UD - VKU has consistently sent groups of students to universities in Thailand for study, research exchange, and cultural and language immersion. 08 VKU’s students were selected to participate in the International Leadership Camp 2025 at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). The camp's theme was "Technopreneur Skills for Global Innovators."

Additionally, 09 VKU’s students are currently undertaking an international academic internship exchange at KMUTNB for two months. These students, studying Information Technology (English-Vietnamese bilingual program, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence), were chosen for their outstanding academic performance, strong English proficiency, and passion for scientific research.

Leadership Summer Camp in Thailand

According to Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of VKU, these activities are made possible by VKU proactively utilizing funding from a cooperation project sponsored by the Korean Government for the 2022-2027 period. This funding covers round-trip airfare, insurance, visa fees, and living expenses.

Additionally, the partner institution, KMUTNB, fully sponsors VKU students' living costs, accommodation, transportation, and provides a stipend of 10,000 THB per month throughout their internship.

UD - UED recently held the closing ceremony for the international student exchange program (3+1) with Guizhou Minzu University, China. This program falls within the framework of cooperation between UD - UED and Guizhou Minzu University. This also marks the second year  the University has welcomed 27 international students from the partner institution for study and exchange.

"We were really excited about the cultural activities, like experiencing the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan) and Laos's Bunpimay festival. We were especially thrilled to participate in the international exchange at the First Central Region Vietnamese Oratory Contest for Foreigners, hosted by UD-DUE. This was a fantastic opportunity that helped bridge friendship and foster beneficial educational cooperation," shared Giai Le , an international student from Guizhou Minzu University.

Through international student exchange activities and the foundation of knowledge, skills, foreign language proficiency, and digital technology cultivated in the classroom, an increasing number of  UD students are successfully applying for and receiving prestigious international scholarships.

A prime example is Phi Hanh Nguyen (class 21SPA02, Faculty of Foreign Languages Education) from UD-UFLS who recently earned a full scholarship (valued at £60,000) from the University of Oxford (UK) to pursue a Master's degree.

Similarly, Student Le Kha Tuyet Phuong (Faculty of International Business) from UD-UTE recently received excellent news: she was awarded two full scholarships, one from the Danish Government and one from the University of Trento (Italy).

Student Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan (Data Science major) from UD-VNUK also brilliantly secured two prestigious European scholarships: the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of UD-UFLS, shared that the results of sustainable international cooperative relationships with universities in the region and worldwide that enable students to develop professionally and broaden their perspectives in a multicultural academic environment.

This provides a solid launchpad for them to access and achieve international scholarships at advanced educational institutions, thereby contributing back to the country's education, culture, and scientific endeavors.
