Recently, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) has taken significant steps to enhance its collaboration with Japanese universities, focusing on academic exchange and research initiatives. Notably, the university has signed a cooperation agreement with Mie University (Tsu City, Mie Prefecture) and engaged in partnership discussions with Saga University (Saga Prefecture).

On July 30, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between UD-UED and Mie University at the Mie University campus.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Vo Van Minh, Rector of UD-UED, this strategic agreement opens up promising prospects and opportunities for building a dynamic, modern, and internationally connected academic ecosystem.

The scope of cooperation has been comprehensively expanded, encompassing faculty exchanges, dispatching experts for teaching and specialized research, co-organizing scientific conferences, as well as student and postgraduate exchanges and internships. Both institutions will also collaborate in organizing short-term training courses and summer programs.

Priority areas for joint development include interdisciplinary and advanced research in education, engineering-environment, biotechnology, and sustainable agriculture.

At Saga University, UD-UED delegation held working sessions with university leaders and the Faculty of Agriculture, focusing on cooperation in smart agriculture, applied biotechnology, and environmental and ecological protection.

UD-UED representatives proposed collaborative implementation of a project to produce algae for CO₂ absorption and bioenergy production, aiming to deliver practical value to the community and foster entrepreneurial development.

Both sides agreed to intensify faculty and student exchanges, particularly through inviting and dispatching experts for both short- and long-term assignments. They committed to mutual support in postgraduate training, joint supervision of master's and doctoral candidates, co-designing joint courses, and connecting academic networks between Vietnam, ASEAN, and Japan.
