On June 17th, 2025, Professor Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) hosted a meeting with Mr. Andrei Fanisovich Akhmadulin - Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Irkutsk Region, Russian Federation, Ms. Mizonova Maria Georgievna - Consul General of the Russian Federation in Danang, Ms. Phan Thi Thuy - Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Da Nang city.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from UD’s relevant departments, including Science and International Cooperation, Student Affairs, Corporate Relations and Communications, as well as leaders from the Department of Science and International Cooperation and the Russian Language Department of the University of Foreign Language Studies – UD.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son warmly welcomed the delegation from the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Consul General to UD. He provided an overview of UD as a leading multi-disciplinary regional university in Vietnam, comprising six member universities and various affiliated schools, institutes, faculties, and campuses.

UD offers a wide range of academic disciplines to meet societal and student needs, spanning natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, engineering and technology, economics, law, foreign languages, education, and medicine. The university also has a long-standing Russian language program at the Faculty of Russian Language, University of Foreign Language Studies - UD, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. These programs produce high-quality human resources, contributing to regional and national development.

Mr. Andrei Fanisovich Akhmadulin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from UD’s leadership. He noted that the Irkutsk region is home to several universities with academic strengths similar to those at UD, particularly in engineering and economics, such as Baikal State University, the long-established Irkutsk State Medical University, and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These shared strengths present opportunities for enhanced educational and research collaboration.

Mr. Akhmadulin also highlighted that Baikal State University currently hosts Vietnamese doctoral students and young researchers who have successfully defended their dissertations. The university is eager to establish relations with UD and is ready to share information and facilitate faculty exchanges, as well as send experts to teach and collaborate in Russian, Vietnamese, and English. There is also particular interest in international studies programs, allowing students to choose to study Vietnamese.

In an atmosphere of understanding and openness, both sides acknowledged the proposals and expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in education and scientific research, alongside language and cultural exchanges to maximize the potential of both universities.

UD's leader hoped that the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Irkutsk Region, the Russian Consulate General in Danang and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Da Nang city will continue to support and serve as a bridge for expanding opportunities for study, research, and faculty and student exchanges. UD also looks forward to receiving information on cooperation needs from Russian universities and partners, especially in fields where Russia has particular strengths.
