University of Science and Education - UD hosted the First Central Region Vietnamese Eloquence Competition for Foreigners

On May 31st, 2025, University of Science and Education (UED) - The University of Danang (UD) hosted the First Central Region Vietnamese Eloquence Competition for foreigners, bringing together 160 contestants from 12 higher education institutions in the region. This academic and cultural platform aims to inspire learning Vietnamese and connects the love for Vietnamese language and culture with international friends.

Attending the Final Round of the Competition were: Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee; Ms. Pham Thi Thao Nguyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Da Nang City Party Committee; Representatives from diplomatic agencies and organizations in the city (Consulate General of China, Consulate General of the Russian Federation, Consulate General of Laos, the French Institute in Da Nang); as well as representatives of leaders from various departments, agencies, associations, relevant boards of the University of Da Nang, and universities with competing teams.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Minh, Rector of the UD-UED and Head of the Organizing Committee, this is the first time the University has collaborated with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City to organize the competition. The aim is to spread the beauty of the Vietnamese language as a symbol of culture, humanity, and national history. The message of the competition conveys that “Language is a bridge connecting cultures, a bond that strengthens the friendship among nations across the five continents.

Highly appreciating the initiative and joint efforts of the Organizing Committee, including UD-UED as the host venue for this meaningful event, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, emphasized that the competition holds significant importance. It creates an opportunity for foreigners and international students living, studying, and working in the Central Vietnam region to meet, exchange, share learning experiences, and improve their Vietnamese language skills.

This also contributes to enhancing understanding of Vietnamese culture, history, and people in general, and of Da Nang city in particular, fostering and promoting strong friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese people and students with international friends.

Representatives of the city's leadership expressed their desire and proposed that departments, agencies, organizations, associations, and universities to show interest, support, and accompany this meaningful competition to make it an annual event, continually expanding in scale, improving in quality, and diversifying its format to attract a large number of international students, foreigners, as well as Vietnamese citizens passionate about cultivating and promoting the value of the Vietnamese language and culture.

After passing the Preliminary Round, 12 teams from educational institutions in the Central region competed in the Final Round with two sections:
In the Oratory section, contestants delivered presentations in Vietnamese (approximately 10 minutes) on various meaningful topics. These topics conveyed cultural and humanitarian messages, insights into the country and people of Vietnam, as well as the role of the Vietnamese language in their studies, life, and international exchange."
The Talent section showcased participants' abilities and skills in performing arts and Vietnamese culture through various rich and unique forms such as singing, dancing, reciting poetry, and playing traditional musical instruments. This is an expression of international students' and foreigners' understanding, appreciation, and love for Vietnamese language and culture.

For the final results, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the team from the University of Foreign Language Studies - UD. Two Second Prizes went to the teams from Quang Nam University and Hue College. Four Third Prizes were awarded to the teams from the University of Science and Education – UD (UED Development), Quang Binh University, University of Foreign Languages Studies - Hue University, and Hong Duc University. Additionally, the Organizing Committee also presented five Consolation Prizes, along with awards for the Most Impressive Talent Team and the Team with the Most Impressive Eloquence Video in the Preliminary Round.

The success of the competition not only honors the essence of Vietnamese cultural beauty, a precious spiritual heritage, but also creates opportunities for cultural connection and exchange, fostering friendship between Vietnam and international friends; it also demonstrates the mission of the UD-UED in advancing and cooperating in education and training, as well as international language and cultural exchanges.

Furthermore, it practically implements the Party's major policy of bringing the Vietnamese language to the world with a spirit of deep integration, humanity, and sustainable development, as shared by the university's leadership representative.
