University of Technology and Education (UTE) - the University of Danang (UD) organized the seminar “Technology Trends in Semiconductor and Photonics for Digital Infrastructure”. The event featured two prestigious international scientists, Dr. Tatsuro Maeda and Dr. Shu Namiki, who presented scientific reports on semiconductor and photonics technologies.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Rector of UD - UTE, the conference served as a platform for academic exchange, especially in the strategic and high-potential fields of semiconductor and photonic technologies.

He also stated that it was an opportunity to strengthen connections among scientists, experts, and research groups in these fields, thereby motivating the university to continue pioneering new training programs, meeting societal demands, and equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate into regional and international labor markets.

The highlight of the seminar was two insightful and practical presentations: "New frontiers in semiconductor technology: AIST’s strategic research initiatives" by Dr. Tatsuro Maeda, and "Technological trends and silicon photonics for future digital infrastructure" by Dr. Shu Namiki.

These presentations shared emerging issues and global trends in a field that both Da Nang and Vietnam have identified as a key area for future investment and development.

Delegates listened to and discussed the reports, announcing new research findings on semiconductor and optical communication technologies, along with their related applications in automation and digital infrastructure, in order to keep pace with the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

The shared opinions demonstrated a common interest and agreement that the interdisciplinary knowledge convergence between semiconductor and photonics can be considered a key to creating efficient and sustainable digital technology.
