The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) has inaugurated its Preparatory Vietnamese Language Program for international students ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized that the program is designed to build a strong foundation for international students’ study and research, enhancing their Vietnamese proficiency while serving as a bridge to Vietnamese culture. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu pledged to create favorable conditions for international students to study and engage in campus life.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khanthaly Khamphilavong, First Secretary for Education and Culture at the Consulate General of Laos in Da Nang, praised UD-UED’s experience in training international students, particularly in teaching Vietnamese to non-native speakers. The Consulate General expressed confidence that, with dedicated faculty, a structured curriculum, and an inspiring learning environment, students will complete the program successfully and deepen ties that bolster the special Vietnam–Laos friendship.

The inaugural cohort comprises 23 students from Laos (including 16 government scholars), Japan, China, Ukraine, South Korea, and Russia, with seven self-funded participants.

According to the university, the curriculum is continuously updated. Beyond communicative Vietnamese, it includes subject-oriented content and modules on culture, history, geography, and economics.

Students will also participate in experiential activities on and off campus - including visits to landmarks and explorations of traditional arts and local cuisine - to strengthen both language skills and cultural understanding.
