The Education and Time Newspaper: The University of Danang makes breakthroughs in research and innovation for the community

Entering a new era of development, "the era of the nation's rise," Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW presents a significant opportunity for UD’s intellectual community, including scientists, lecturers/researchers, and students, to maximize their potential and intellect, contributing further to the development of regions and the nation.

With the role and position of a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral regional university, amplified by the 50-year traditions of its member institutions, UD is making great efforts and demonstrating high determination to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Through this, UD aims to affirm its capabilities and social responsibility as a leading training and scientific research center by making breakthroughs in innovation, technology transfer, and effective application, all geared towards serving the community.



Research team from the UD-DNIIT

One of the outstanding examples of UD's scientific research and innovation activities recently is the Waste Solar Panel Recycling Technology Project. This project was carried out by the research team from the Danang International Institute of Technology (DNIIT) - UD, led by Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Nhan, Dr. Do The Can, and their associates. It was one of three exemplary projects from Southeast Asia to be showcased and presented at the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2025.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Thanh NhanDirector of DNIIT  Institute - UD, this project is also one of nine highly regarded initiatives  at the 2025 Science Initiative Competition (organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and VNExpress Online Newspaper).

The project was successfully incubated and has since been transferred and developed into an innovation startup enterprise (located in the Danang Hi-Tech Park). Furthermore, it received support from the US-ASEAN Smart Cities PartnershipOrganization for practical implementation, placing it among the top six projects in Asia to receive the highest level of funding.

Along with promoting scientific research among staff and lecturers, UD consistently focuses on and organizes numerous activities to support and encourage student in scientific research. This includes: Organizing annual Scientific Research  Student Conferences and Awards, developing academic clubs, and implementing various academic and innovation startup competitions.

BINKS team from UD secured First Prize 
from the "Student Support Program for
Social Impact Startup Acceleration"

A prime example is the BINKS team from UD (Tran Nhan Kiet from VNUK; Dinh Tra Giang and Nguyen Tran Tran Chau, both from DUE). They recently secured First Prize and received “seed funding” (50 million VND) from the "Student Support Program for Social Impact Startup Acceleration," implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with The Happiness Foundation and SK Group (South Korea).

Second Prize at Vifotech-2025

The research groups at UD have achieved numerous achievements include: Second Prize at the 2025 Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards (Vifotech), awarded to Dr. Ngo Dinh Thanh from UD-DUT (co-leader and associates) for their work on the "Automatic Flood Monitoring and Warning System Vfass."

Four author groups  with inventions and utility solutions (granted protection certificates) and Twenty-five authors were recognized for their 38 scientific articles published in prestigious international journals(accounting for nearly 72% of publications), also honored by the Danang City People's Committee on Vietnam Science and Technology Day.
