Leaders of the University of Danang welcomed and worked with the Delegation from JETRO Hanoi

On May 22, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) hosted a meeting with Mr. Kobayashi Keisuke - Deputy Chief Representative of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kono Takahiro  - Project Manager of JETRO Hanoi office and leaders from Departments of Science and International Cooperation - UD.

Speaking to the JETRO Hanoi delegation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Vice President of UD, extended a warm welcome and expressed his pleasure to strengthen cooperation with Japanese partners.

The UD leadership provided an overview of UD as a multi-disciplinary regional university, comprising six member universities and affiliated training units, offering a range of programs from undergraduate to postgraduate levels.

Sharing with the partner, Vice President Le Thanh Bac emphasized that UD places great importance on international cooperation, especially with Japanese partners. Over the years, UD has established and developed relationships with Japanese universities, organizations, and enterprises, creating opportunities for faculty and student exchanges, as well as enhancing internship and employment prospects for students in Japan.

Expressing appreciation for the warm reception and the opportunity for both sides to meet and discuss needs, Mr. Kobayashi Keisuke - Deputy Chief Representative of JETRO Hanoi Office, informed UD leaders about Japan’s human resource development cooperation projects.

The partner also introduced JETRO as a legal entity under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), responsible for promoting Japan’s foreign trade and overseas investment, and supporting the international economic activities of Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises. Currently, JETRO has over 1,800 employees, 76 offices in 57 countries and territories, and 45 offices in Japan. Notably, Vietnam is the only country in ASEAN where JETRO has two offices, located in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

During the meeting, both sides discussed and clarified their needs, proposed various ideas and initiatives aimed at promoting and advancing cooperation activities in innovation, and enhancing internship and employment opportunities at Japanese enterprises for UD students.

These initiatives include Japanese language training for students, faculty and student exchanges, building bridges with other partners, scholarship support, organizing job fairs, seminars, and educational exhibitions.
