Leaders of the University of Danang welcomed and worked with Director of the Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH)

On June 5th, 2025, Dr. Phan Minh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council of the University of Danang (UD), chaired a meeting with Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago, Regional Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH).

Also present at the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc, Vice Chairman of the UD Council; representatives of the leadership from relevant departments of UD, including Training and Education Quality Assurance, Science and International Cooperation; Department of Student Affairs, Partners and Communication); Representatives from the Science and International Cooperation Office of the University of Economics - UD also attended.​

Speaking with the partner, Dr. Phan Minh Duc warmly welcomed and congratulated Ms. Majah-Leah V. Ravago on her new appointment as Director of SEAMEO INNOTECH. Dr. Phan Minh Duc shared and introduced the general and outstanding features of the UD as a multi-disciplinary, multi-field regional university, ranking among the top universities in Vietnam. It comprises 06 member universities and other affiliated and directly subordinate schools, institutes, faculties, and training campuses.

UD offers a wide range of training fields and disciplines, including many cutting-edge programs like semiconductor IC design, artificial intelligence, and financial technology, all designed to meet the development needs of the region and the country.

With nearly 100 internationally accredited training programs (CTI, ASIIN Europe, AUN-QA Southeast Asia), UD focuses on  the continuously goal of improving the quality of human resource training,  implementing numerous international joint training programs, and offering English-taught courses.

Regarding research and international cooperation, UD boasts a strong team of staff and lecturers, most of whom are trained in advanced countries. UD consistently prioritizes fostering and expanding its international cooperation network, being an active member of many prestigious organizations such as AUF and SEAMEO INNOTECH. UD is also the first non-European member of the Ulysseus European University Alliance.

Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago, Director of SEAMEO INNOTECH, expressed her delight and sincere gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the delegation by UD's leaders. She emphasized that this is a valuable opportunity for both sides to strengthen connections and foster potential cooperation in education and research.

According to Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago, SEAMEO INNOTECH is part of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and is one of SEAMEO's regional centers. Its functions include cooperating in educational innovation and technology, enhancing the quality of education, and applying new technologies. The SEAMEO INNOTECH Governing Board currently has 13 official members, including representatives from the 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste.

During the meeting, leaders from both sides highly appreciated the need and potential for cooperation. A key highlight was UD 's  advantage of being located in Da Nang, a 'livable and visitable' city, the country's central hub with numerous strengths for international connectivity in transport and trade.

This position fosters educational and scientific development and makes Da Nang a destination for many major events. This is an opportunity to strengthen SEAMEO INNOTECH's bridging role with agencies, organizations, and businesses in the dynamic ASEAN region, supporting UD in general and its member universities in particular, in faculty and student exchanges, as well as providing scholarships for training and research.

Leaders from UD and SEAMEO INNOTECH acknowledged the proposals and agreed on a general direction and spirit of  strengthening ties in regional education and innovation, attracting scientists and experts, and equipping students with digital technology skills amidst the boom in artificial intelligence development.
