At the Startup Festival 2022 which is an annual prestigious event organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry - VFCI (formerly the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the VFCI’s President Pham Tan Cong honored University of Science and Technology (DUT) – The University of Danang (UD) as “University with significant contributions to the startup ecosystem in 2021”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, Vice Rector of DUT-UD, received the certificate from the VFCI.

In the past years, especially in 2021 with many difficulties and challenges due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, DUT–UD has constantly demonstrated its mission and tradition of leading academic excellence in the fields of education, scientific research and technology transfer.

The university’s spirit of innovation and its unremitting efforts to foster the startup ecosystem have supported the entrepreneurship spirit for students in the school environment.

DUT-UD has always encouraged and timely supported students’ creative ideas and aspirations, actively grasped students’ practical needs and passion for scientific research, thereby bringing about many useful creative solutions to serve the community.

In several startup playgrounds, students of DUT-UD have continuously reaped many achievements such as: 3 consecutive championships, 1 runner-up award of the Vietnam EPICS Competition (2018-2021); championship of the Automation Project-based Learning Contest; 1st prize in the “Business Challenge” competition which is jointly organized by the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) and the German Academic Exchange Agency (DAAD); championship of the UAVS Hackatrix 2021 Technology Ideas Contest, etc.

The creative projects and products of students have been timely transferred and applied to effectively serve the community in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as: robots serving isolation areas at the Hoa Vang Hospital, automatic hand sanitizer dispencers at the Danang General Hospital, etc.
