UD-UFLS and UD-SMP strengthen cooperation with Shimane University, Japan

On March 20, 2026, the University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS) and the University of Danang - School of Medicine and Pharmacy (UD-SMP) held working sessions, discussions, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shimane University (Japan), opening up opportunities for closer collaboration and joint development in UD’s higher education internationalization process.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of UD-UFLS, stated that the signing of the MoU not only marks a milestone in international cooperation but also establishes a solid foundation to promote faculty and student exchanges, scientific research, and academic sharing. This cooperation contributes to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan, in which language and cultural exchange plays an important role.

Dr. Le Viet Nho, Rector of UD-SMP, noted that the cooperation focuses on enhancing the quality of healthcare workforce education and promoting joint research. In addition to prioritizing faculty and student exchanges, especially in disciplines where the two institutions share similarities and strengths, the two universities also give priority to cooperation in scientific research, co-organizing events and conferences, and supporting student internships and professional development programs.

According to Mr. Yamashita Kazuya, Director of Shimane University, cooperation in training and research among universities, particularly within the Asia–Pacific region, aligns with current needs and trends. Especially in the context of globalization, building connections and fostering the international mindset of faculty members and students in a multicultural academic environment play a meaningful role in enhancing the international reputation of partner institutions.

Leaders of Shimane University highly appreciated the cooperation potential as well as the training and research capacity of UD-UFLS and UD-SMP. They also expressed their joy and expectations that this cooperation milestone will serve as a foundation for sustainable development in the future.
