The University of Danang welcomed and worked with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, an expert from University of Connecticut and the US National Academy of Inventors – NAI

 

On the morning of November 14, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) chaired a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - University of Connecticut (USA), a senior member of the US National Academy of Inventors - NAI).

Also attending were leaders of UD’s relevant units: Department of Science and International Cooperation, Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, VN - UK Institute of Research and Executive Education, and UD-School of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - University of Connecticut, a senior member of NAI (USA) to visit and work with UD, opening up more opportunities to connect with the community of leading scientists in the field of Biomedical Engineering - BME.

The leader of UD also shared that UD highly acknowledged ​​and was sensitive to the development trend of the BME, accordingly the need to train high-quality human resources to develop research and applications in many fields serving for community was being prioritized as a key major.

UD has member universities and affiliated units such as UD- University of Science and Technology, UD-VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education (UD-VNUK), UD-School of Medicine and Pharmacy, UD-Advanced Institute of Science and Technology with strengths in using common resources, combining multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary to cooperate with domestic and international experts, scientists, partners to develop BME.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh expressed his pleasure and honor to visit and develop cooperation with UD; He also said that the community of scientists at University of Connecticut as well as in the BME field was increasingly growing in the context and trend of the achievements of the 4.0 Revolution with platforms and pillars such as AI, IoT, Robots... creating the powerful changes to integrate and connect related fields, bringing advances in knowledge, new technology, and serving the community.

According to the representative of the UD-Department of Science and International Cooperation, UD and UC have a lot of potentials to promote cooperation, it is expected that next year, the two sides will coordinate to organize the 2nd International Conference on Biomedical Technology (ICHST 2025) with other prestigious partners such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, AVSE Global – Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh is the focal point of University of Connecticut to coordinate this key cooperation content with main topics such as Biological materials and Renewable Engineering; Biomechanics, Medical Devices, Biomedical Imaging Devices; Drug/ Vaccines delivery technology/ and pharmaceutical technology; Analytical, Molecular Diagnostic and Sensing Technology; Digital Health and Telemedicine (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Health); Cellular and Neural engineering; Others applied  in health care...

In an atmosphere of understanding and sincerity, the two sides expressed their willingness to promote cooperation in specialized fields to promote potential and strengths. UD leader hoped to connect UD’s member universities with leading experts of University of Connecticut and NAI, forming an ecosystem of research groups in the field of biomedicine, and developing BME training courses.

On the same day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh also had an exchange session to share information, opportunities, and inspiration for young lecturers and students of UD-VNUK.
