The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) promoted the spread of reading culture in universities

Recently, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) has had many activities to promote and spread reading culture in universities.

On December 5, UD-UED connected and received the "Polish Book Corner" donated by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the university with more than 500 books and cultural souvenirs that are meaningful to serve lecturers, especially students, in their studies and research.

According to Mr. Piotr Frieske - Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Da Nang, books are important in education as “the quintessence that creates knowledge and imagination - two driving forces for human success and passion".

Highlighting the close friendship between the two countries, the representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland said that this is a cultural and intellectual bridge, through which he hopes that the “Polish Book Corner” will further inspire and arouse the passion for reading in students of UD-UED to explore the country and people of Poland, thereby being able to choose and apply for scholarship programs to have the opportunity to study and improve their professional qualifications and careers in Poland in the future.

With sincere thanks to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and appreciation for the fact that UD-UED was one of the five universities in Vietnam (along with universities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Vinh) to receive books within the framework of the “Polish Book Corner” project, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Vice Rector of UD-UED shared that this was a meaningful gift to help lecturers and students of the university have more resources for studying and researching.

The UD-UED's leadership representative said that a "Polish Book Corner" will be arranged right at the university's library so that all lecturers, students, and researchers can easily access and exploit academic and cultural values; coordinate with partners to organize seminars, academic exchanges, and related events, etc.

“Polish Book Corner” includes more than 500 books on topics and fields of culture, education, science, and technology. Among them are many famous literary works such as: “Chopin - Life and Times”, “Great Minds - Marie Curie”, and “The Emperor” by Ryszard Kapuściński, etc.

Along with that, UD-UED's students were also given more than 120 souvenir gifts carrying messages of friendship and Polish cultural exchange such as: cloth bags, backpacks, fans, and notebooks with traditional Polish motifs...

On this occasion, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland awarded 18 students from UD-UED who responded and participated in the contest "Review Polish books"; discussed and shared issues related to books and reading culture as well as information on scholarship programs for students.

Previously (November 19), UD-UED coordinated with the Da Nang General Science Library to organize the "My Favorite Book" Eloquence Contest, creating opportunities for students to share their feelings about their favorite books, and spreading the reading culture in universities.

This was also the key activity in the Book Day series with the theme "University Culture" with the participation of clubs and universities in the area with many activities such as "Information Resources" booth, artistic book arrangement, donating books to the library, etc., attracting a large number of students to visit and experience.
