The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies organized the 2024 Japanese Speech Contest and Japanese Classical Literature Day

On November 22, 2024, at The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS), the 2024 Japanese Speech Contest and Japanese Classical Literature Day took place with the presence of Mr. Mori Takero - Consul General of Japan in Danang, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of UD-UFLS and many lecturers and students of UD-UFLS participating in the contest and cheering.

According to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of UD-UFLS, this is an academic playground that creates opportunities for students, most of whom are studying Japanese language at the university, to demonstrate their abilities and youth thinking on topics and issues that students think about, aspire to and dream of. This is also an opportunity for faculties and the university to evaluate students' foreign language competence, motivate and inspire students to make efforts to study and practice  foreign languages ​​in real life.

The Rector hopes that through the Japanese Speech Contest, it will contribute to strengthening the connection and exchange among students, connecting Japanese language training facilities and units as well as Japanese organizations and businesses in the city as well as the central region and the whole country.

According to Mr. Mori Takero - Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, this is a meaningful event towards the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2024), an opportunity to bridge the language and cultural exchange.

The Consulate General highly appreciated the prestige and reputation of UD-UFLS in its mission of promoting training and research in languages, culture and human civilization; at the same time, is ready to accompany the university to develop and improve the quality of Japanese language training to meet the needs of international exchange, trade and integration.

At the Contest, students from UD-UFLS demonstrated their ability to speak Japanese and their understanding of Japanese society and culture, presented fluently and convincingly ideas according to the topics set by the Contest and the judge.

Awarded Second Prize of Japanese Speech Contest

 

As a result, the First Prize was awarded to Student Nguyen Quang My Hanh (class 21CNJCLC01) with a bonus of 3 million VND along with the opportunity to experience Mikazuki Resort in Japan, a round-trip air ticket to visit Japan (for candidates who do not plan to go to Japan for other study purposes) and a gift worth 2,000,000 VND from Sponsor FPT Software.

Second Prize was awarded to student Nguyen Thi Thuy (class 21CNJ02) with a bonus of 2 million VND and the opportunity to explore and experience  Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resort & Spa.

Third Prize were awarded to students Nguyen Tran Khanh Huyen (class 21CNJCLC01) and Pham Nhu Ngoc (class 21CNJ01) with a bonus of 1 million VND/ prize and the opportunity to experience restaurant services at Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resort & Spa.

Waka Poetry Recitation Contest Award Ceremony

 

On this occasion, UD-UFLS in collaboration with the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (Japan Foundation) organized "Japanese Classical Literature Day" with the highlight being the "Waka Poetry Recitation Contest".

At this playground, students of the Japanese Language and Culture Department chose to recite a Waka poem and express their feelings about the poem in Japanese.

The First Prize was awarded to student Pham Thi My Phuong (class 21CNJ01); the Second Prize were awarded to students Phan Thi Thu Hau (class 21CNJCLC01) and Tran Thi Cam Linh (class 21CNJ01); the Third Prize were awarded to students Tran Nguyen Bao Ngoc (class 21CNJ01), Le Dang Khanh (class 21CNJCLC01) and Bui Thi Ngoc Yen (class 21CNJCLC01).

According to Dr. Huynh Ngoc Mai Kha - Vice Rector of UD-UFLS, this is a useful activity, attracting many students to participate in sharing and discovering the unique values ​​of Japanese classical literature. The awareness and understanding gained from this activity will contribute to fostering the comprehensive strategic partnership and promoting cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan, inspiring and motivating students to be more passionate about learning, researching Japanese language and culture, and becoming global citizens.
