On December 6, 2024, The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS) in collaboration with the Central Region Foreign Language Training and Development Club (abbreviated as the Club) under the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges (abbreviated as the Association) organized a Seminar in in-person  and virtual form (hybrid) with the topic "Developing the capacity to use artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and assessing foreign languages".

In his opening speech, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of UD-UFLS highlighted the significance of the topic of the Seminar as very practical in the context of education and training in general, foreign language training and assessment in particular, facing opportunities and challenges to catch up with the achievements of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution such as AI, Big Data, IoT, etc.

The Club's Chairman said that the Seminar was organized to create a forum for managers, experts, and lecturers to share experiences and exchange academic knowledge in order to promote the effective application of information technology, and focus on improving the capacity to apply AI in teaching and assessing foreign languages.

Speaking at the Seminar, Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD, Vice President of the Association highly appreciated the UD-UFLS for proactively coordinating with the Club to organize this practical activity, contributing to constantly innovating and improving the quality of teaching - learning and assessment of foreign languages ​​in the context of increasingly deep integration with the internationalization process of university education.

According to Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son, AI is a trend, a great achievement of mankind with application opportunities along with challenges to effectively master technology in research and teaching activities. The experiences and solutions proposed from the Seminar will be the orientation for the innovation process of universities in the digital age.
