On the morning of June 29, 2023, the University of Danang (UD) held the University-Enterprise Cooperation Conference 2023 at Furama Resort Danang with the participation of senior representatives of Departments of Da Nang city. (Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Science and Technology; Management Board of Hi-Tech Parks and Industrial zones, Board of Investment Promotion and Support...); leaders of nearly 40 enterprises which are UD’s partners as well as UD’s member universities, and affiliated units.

Attending the Conference were Assoc .Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Member of Da Nang Communist Party, Secretary of the Party Committee, UD’s President; Former Presidents of UD: Prof. Dr. Sc. Bui Van Ga, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam; Dr. Phan Minh Duc-Chairman of the UD’s Council; Vice Presidents of UD: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son; Chairmans of the School Council and representatives of the Rectorate Board UD’s member universities; press and media agencies of locality and government.

Also attending were representatives of Office of Administrative affairs, functional departments, institutes, faculties and affiliated units of UD; representatives of offices of student affairs and centers for student support and enterprises relations; lecturers and cadres of UD.

Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac-UD’s Vice President delivered the opening remark, respectfully welcomed and thanked for the attention and support of the departments of Da Nang city, the leaders of the enterprises who had been accompanying the education and training process of UD as well as its member universities and affiliated units during the past time.

At the Conference, MSc. Dinh Thi My Hanh-Director of UD-Department of Student Affairs delivered a report on the context and results of the University-Enterprise cooperation activities in recent years, thereby highlighting the meaning, role and viewpoint of the University-Enterprise cooperation in the development strategy of UD, especially emphasized the key theme in 2023: “The year of strengthening the university-enterprise cooperation, promoting international cooperation to improve the quality of training and scientific research for the sustainable development”.

The report analyzed and clarified the results achieved in the past time. UD had been promoting the University-Locality cooperation: Actively signed and implemented Agreements with Da Nang city and the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum…; Signed the cooperation agreements with leading universities such as: Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Hanoi University of Science and Technology, thereby creating an environment and developing an ecosystem for the university-enterprise cooperation.

The whole system including regional universities, member universities and affiliated units, focus on deepening cooperation with enterprises and former students (in the two years from 2021 to 2022, UD had been signed MoU/MOA with more than 120 enterprises including many prestigious brands such as: Fujikin Corporation, LG, Microsoft, UAC, Mikazuki; Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), Central Power Corporation (EVN CPC), Sun Group, Truong Hai Automobile Company (THACO), Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company …

The cooperation content was based on the needs and strengths of the parties, which focused on areas such as training cooperation (enterprises participate in commenting, building and adjusting the program; UD deploys advanced teaching and learning, specific training models to the fields of information technology, tourism...); enterprises support facilities and equipment for UD and students; UD and enterprises cooperate in scientific research to deploy many applied projects and technology transfer (in the period of 2016-2021, the expected total budget for implementing projects from enterprises is more than 30 billion VND); enterprises support to receive UD’s students to do internship and recruiting human resources (Annually, UD provides more than 50% of engineers in key industries such as: Electricity, Oil and Gas, Information Technology, etc.)

Through cooperation agreements, students had more opportunities to receive many scholarships (in the three academic years from 2019-2020 to 2021-2022, UD and partner enterprises awarded more than VND 19.1 billion to students; supporting students having difficulties due to natural disasters and the Covid-19 pandemic, etc.)

In addition, the report of UD frankly showed challenges and difficulties from the reality of the university-enterprise cooperation, thereby proposing solutions to discuss and promote potentials and opportunities to cooperate more effectively in the upcoming time.

Speaking at the end of the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, UD’s President, affirmed that the cooperation between the University and enterprises was an inevitable trend, an important significance in the career of high-quality human resources training, adapting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in general, serving the needs of using human resources from universities of enterprises in particular.

Therefore, this conference was a meaningful forum, an opportunity for UD as well as its member universities and affiliated units to meet, strengthen cohesion and grasp the needs of enterprises, thereby affirming the necessity and importance of continuing to strengthen the cooperation relationship between the parties

Highly acknowledging and appreciating the opinions of the delegates including the limitations, obstacles and inadequacies from different perspectives in the university-enterprise cooperation activities; as well as effective ideas, initiatives and solutions to overcome and look forward to the future, President Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed his desire that with this conference, leaders of UD and its member universities, and affiliated units as well as enterprises united in awareness and action for the role and the demand to strengthen the effective cooperation between universities and enterprises. President Nguyen Ngoc Vu also hoped to continue receiving the attention, support and companionship of all authorities, organizations, enterprises and social communities.
