On December 29th, the University of Danang (UD) organized a seminar on "Science and Technology activities in the period of 2016-2020, with an orientation to 2030".
Attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu-Member of Danang Party Committee cum UD’s President; Mr. Duong Hoang Van Ban - Deputy Director of Danang Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Tran Van Ty-Deputy Head of Management Board of Danang Hi-Tech Park and Danang Industrial Parks; Prof. Dr. Sc. Bui Van Ga - Former Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education and Training, Former President of UD.

Besides, there were also Vice Presidents of UD; Rectors, Chairman of the Schools’ Council, Vice Rectors (in charge of Science and Technology) of UD’s member universities; senior representatives of UD's affiliated units; professors, associate professors and representatives of UD’s TRT.

Assoc. Prof. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President delivered the opening remark
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son-UD’s Vice President highlighted the significance and purpose of the seminar to evaluate and summarize the S&T activities for the period of 2016-2020; creating an opportunity to discuss, suggest orientations and solutions to strongly develop science and technology activities of UD to 2030; affirming the important role for the sustainable development; improving prestige and branding of UD; contributing to the development of the region and the country as a whole.

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Le Hung – Director of UD-Department of Research, Technology and Environment presented a presentation
At the seminar, the representative of UD-Department of Science, Technology and Environment reported on a summary of S&T activities in the period of 2016-2020, with a vision to 2030, whereby a lot of outstanding and comprehensive results had been achieved as a premise for a new development phase.

Many policies and regulations on Science and Technology had been issued and effectively implemented with the aim of encouraging and promoting lecturers and students to do scientific research; A lot of cooperation agreements with localities (Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum) and enterprises had been signed and implemented, clearly demonstrating the role of UD's intellectuals in research, application, technology transfer, consultancy of policies on the development of socio-economics, innovation and start-up.

At the seminar, UD’s President Nguyen Ngoc Vu granted certificates of merit and bonuses (5 million VND/individual) to 13 scientists and lecturers who had typical achievements in Science and Technology activities, projects and products applied and transferred for the period of 2016-2020.

The participants discussed and identified opportunities, challenges and difficulties, thereby suggesting ideas, solutions and orientations for the development of Science and Technology activities of UD.

Speaking at the closing section, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – UD’s President emphasized the significance of the seminar to look back on the past journey and find a new motivation for the Science and Technology development. President Nguyen Ngoc Vu also highly appreciated and gave his congratulations to scientists who had many important contributions to create "very impressive" imprints and results of Science and Technology activities as well as the UD’s development in the past 5 years.
