On the morning of September 27, 2024, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Member of the City Party Committee, President of the University of Danang (UD) attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year and presented the Decision (No. 3669/QD-UD dated September 4, 2024) appointing Dr. Hoang Huu Khoi to the position of Vice Rector of UD - School of Medicine and Pharmacy (UD-SMP).

Also attending were representatives of the leadership: Department of Education and Training of Da Nang city; partner agencies and enterprises; member universities, affiliated units, along with a large number of staff, lecturers, students and new students of the School.

Highlighting the achievements of UD-SMP in the 2023-2024 academic year, Rector Le Viet Nho shared his pride when recently (May 2, 2024) UD-SMP received the Resolution of the University of Danang to establish UD-SMP (on the basis of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Danang) marking a significant milestone in the 17-year journey of construction and development, adding motivation to excellently complete the academic year's tasks, achieving outstanding and comprehensive results.

UD-SMP has continuously developed and strengthened its staff potential; the 2024 enrollment results ensure the quantity with high admission scores; the training quality has been gradually improved (04 training programs have been reviewed and 02 training programs in Nursing and Medicine have been internally self-assessed). The quality and quantity of topics and scientific publications have all increased with many students winning high prizes in competitions.

The hospital-school cooperation with 03 hospitals to support students in practice and internship is increasingly expanding and effective; the cooperation between enterprises and international cooperation is increasingly flourishing with 02 projects put into use: Lejeune Room (sponsored by Honorary Professor Lejeune) and Simulation Pharmacy (in cooperation with enterprises).

UD-SMP Rector congratulated the new students on the honor of studying and training in the lecture hall of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy under UD, a national key regional university with the orientation of developing into a national university according to Resolution No. 26 and Conclusion No. 79 of the Politburo.

Opportunities and challenges in the face of remarkable advances in science and technology, especially artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology and digital transformation, have strongly promoted the development of medicine, requiring UD-SMP, lecturers and especially students to make more efforts, try harder, identify higher requirements and goals to fulfill the mission of a physician. Students should take advantage of the precious time while still in school to study better, gain more knowledge, "nurture integrity, compassion, tolerance", practice soft skills, especially English to firmly integrate into the world, the Rector advised the students.

Speaking to the lecturers and students of UD-SMP, UD, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD highlighted the significance of this year's Opening Ceremony as a milestone for UD-SMP with its new academic name. The President of UD congratulated the new students of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, UD for surpassing many other candidates with a very high admission rate (300 students/ 4000 students), and was proud to be the first students of UD-SMP.

The President of UD hoped that students/ new students of UD-SMP would nurture their dreams and ambitions to overcome difficulties and challenges; actively participate in scientific research, improve foreign language and IT skills, and participate well in social activities with the philosophy of "learning to be a human being - learning to work and learning to contribute", later becoming good doctors in medical skills, bright in medical ethics, dedicated to the profession and responsible to the community, making an important contribution to the cause of taking care of people's health.
