New Majors

According to forecasts, in the next 5 years, the total demand for human resources in the semiconductor chip industry will be about 20,000 people and in the next 10 years there will be 50,000 people with university degrees or higher. In order to meet future human resource needs, in 2024, member universities of The University of Danang (UD): UD-University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT), UD - Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU), and UD - University of Technology and Education (UD-UTE), are expected to enroll about 200 students for the Semiconductor Circuit Design major. Of which, UD-DUT enrolls 100 students, UD-VKU and UD-UTE each expected to enroll about 50 students.

UD-UTE newly opened, enrolling students in 02 majors: Semiconductor integrated circuit design (electronics and telecommunications engineering technology major) and electric cars (automotive engineering technology major).

“The opening of these majors is to meet the high demand of the Vietnamese labor market for highly qualified human resources in the fields of semiconductor circuit and electric cars. The results of the survey of human resource needs show that integrated circuit design as well as electric cars will be very promising fields in the near future. Since human resources in this industry are expected to increase, engineers working in this field will also have a good income, of course it will attract a large number of candidates", Dr. Nguyen Linh Nam – Vice Rector of UD-UTE said.

In 2024, UD - The University of Science and Education (UD-UED) plans to enroll 2,800 students in 33 majors. Of these, there are 18 teacher training majors and 15 science bachelor's training majors. Among them, there are 3 new training majors: Fine Arts Education and Data Science that have been approved and Public Relations major that is waiting for official approval.

The Fine Arts Education major was opened by UD-UED to meet the requirements of human resources to serve the 2018 general education program. MSc. Nguyen Vinh San - Head of Student Affairs Department of UD-UED said: "Currently, the number of art teachers is lacking in many localities. Meanwhile, both the Central and Central Highlands regions have only one university training this major with a limited number of targets. As soon as the industry was approved, UD-UED received the interest and registration for consultation from many candidates."

Regarding Public Relations training, in the Central and Central Highlands regions, specifically in Da Nang city, one of the major communication centers of the country, there is no training unit that has built and recruited students in the Public Relations training program at the university level. Some current programs mainly focus on short-term training in some skills in the field of public relations. Therefore, to meet the needs of human resources, UD-UED opened a Bachelor of Public Relations training major.

Hot Majors

On average, the admission score for majors such as AI, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Embedded Systems and IoT of UD-DUT in recent years has always been approximately 27 points. Many students admitted to these majors have good English proficiency and have international English certificates right from the first year.

Two of the fields with relatively high entry scores at UD - University of Economics (UD-DUE) recently are Financial Technology and E-commerce. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van Huy – Rector of UD-DUE commented: In the growing trend, any business needs e-commerce human resources, not to mention individual business households selling online also need to understand know about this field.

Dr. Nguyen Linh Nam said that in recent years of enrollment, Information Technology majors; Automotive engineering technology; Control and automation engineering technology; Mechatronics engineering technology, have a highly competitive ratio, from 1:6 to 1:10.

According to the analysis of the Vice Rector of UD - University of Technology and Education (UD-UTE), these are all social fields with high demand, meeting the requirements of scientific and technological development, and chosen by many candidates who love the field of technology and engineering.

Meanwhile, MSc. Nguyen Vinh San, UD - The University of Science and Education (UD-UED) said: "Always maintain a stable enrollment rate of 95 - 100% of the target. Entry standards for all majors are always high, especially in teacher training majors. The level of competition in teacher training majors is quite high when students studying Education are supported with tuition and living expenses at 3.63 million VND/month. In addition, majors other than Education in the social field have also had very high benchmark scores in recent years”.

In 2024, UD is recruiting students to open classes at UD - Campus in Kon Tum (UD-CK) in the form of 2+2. Accordingly, admitted students study the first 2 years at UD-CK and the last 2 years at training facilities, majoring in English Language (UD-University of Foreign Language Studies grants degrees); Automotive Engineering Technology major; Control Engineering and Automation Technology major (UD-University of Technology and Education grants degrees).

In 2024, UD will increase enrollment targets by 900 compared to 2023. The total official admission targets for university degrees at UD is expected to be 16,000 targets for 6 member universities and 3 training affiliated units with a total of 146 majors and different training programs in 16 fields. Specifically:

- UD - University of Science and Technology: 3650 targets (increased by 200 targets)

- UD - University of Economics: 3,325 targets (increased by 100 targets)

- UD - University of Science and Education: 2,800 targets (increased by 70 targets)

- UD - University of Foreign Language Studies: 1,900 targets (increased by 70 targets)

- UD - University of Technology and Education: 1,700 targets (increased by 200 targets)

- UD - Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology: 1,500 targets

- UD - Campus in Kontum: 270 targets

- UD - VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education: 360 targets
