21/04/2026

On April 20, 2026,  The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS) hosted a workshop chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to solicit feedback on the development of assessment criteria for general schools implementing the policy of establishing English as a second language.

According to Dr. Ta Ngoc Tri, Deputy Director of the Department of General Education under the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), this set of criteria is essential as a benchmark and assessment tool to guide the practical implementation of the policy of making English a second language in schools.

MOET representatives emphasized that new policies are only truly effective when they are developed methodically and fundamentally, based on the practical realities of general and higher education institutions, and supported by extensive consultation and critical feedback from experts.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of UD-UFLS, stated that the University has always been a pioneer in implementing education and training policies, particularly in enhancing the quality of English teaching and learning in schools.

Leveraging its experience in implementing the National Foreign Language Development Strategy over the years, UD-UFLS has not only affirmed its position as a key center for training and research in international languages and cultures in the Central and Central Highlands regions but is also prepared to actively contribute to fostering and enhancing the capacity of English teachers nationwide.

At the workshop, delegates actively discussed and highlighted issues rooted in practical needs. They proposed that the MOET focus on directing mechanisms and policies, improving the teaching and learning environment, increasing the deployment of lecturers from universities to refine curricula, and promoting digital transformation and international cooperation to secure additional resources.

By hosting this specialized workshop, which gathered leading experts and administrators, UD-UFLS has clearly demonstrated its core role in creating an ecosystem for education, research, and knowledge transfer to implement the policy of making English a second language in schools. It also reflects the strong determination of the education sector to develop foreign language proficiency as a key for integration for both current and future generations.
