University of Science and Technology – the University of Danang organized STEM Competition for Central region’s high schoolers to innovate toward smart city

On April 26, 2024, University of Science and Technology – the University of Danang (DUT-UD) held the “STEM Innovation for Smart City” (SI4SC) Competition which gathered 29 teams of students from 15 high schools in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.
This is a program chaired by DUT-UD in coordination with the Department of Education and Training of provinces in the Central region, within the framework of the project “STEM Vocational Academy in the Central region of Vietnam – Approach to enhance social awareness and build educational capacity and human resources for STEM”.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tien Dung, Vice Rector of DUT-UD, this project is accompanied by SEAMEO (ASEAN Ministers of Education and Training), STEM-ED and Chevron from 2022 to raise awareness and test the implementation of STEM-applied vocational training programs in Central Vietnam.
SEAMEO STEM-ED Director Mr. Kritsachai Somsaman highly appreciated this playground hosted by DUT-UD. This is not only a competition but also an opportunity for young people to demonstrate their talents, learn and develop practical ideas and products to the community.
According to the representative of the organizing committee, this year’s topics are diverse, and products belong to many specialized groups and new technology fields such as: AI, Automation, IT, Construction Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environment,...
Some of the impressive products are: smart wheelchair model, chemical-mixing robot in the laboratory, smart life jacket, smart glasses to protect eyesight, etc.
