On 24 March, 2024, University of Foreign Language Studies (UFLS) – the University of Danang (UD) held the closing ceremony of the 2024 Francophone Cultural Exchange Festival with the presence of Mr. Ho Ky Minh – Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Danang city, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the UD, Prof. Dr. Bui Van Ga – former Vice Minister of Education and Training, former President of the UD, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh – Chairman of the Danang’s Union of Friendship Organization.

Also attending were Mr. Samuel Delameziere – Director of the French Institute in Da Nang, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Da Nang, Prof. Dr. Truong Ba Thanh – former Vice President of the UD, Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Nhan – Director of DNIIT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc – Rector of UFLS-UD, Dr. Dao Thi Thanh Phuong – Chairwoman of the University Council,  UFLS-UD, representatives of the UD’s member universities, faculties, departments, lecturers and students in the city.

According to Dr. Dao Thi Thanh Phuong, this is the closing ceremony of the series of Francophone Cultural Exchange 2024 with practical significance in response to the celebration of International Francophone Day (20 March) as well as major events hosted by the Republic of France such as the Summer Olympics and Paralympics 2024.

Dr. Phuong shared that the series of French language exchange activities has contributed to consolidating and enhancing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and France, honoring the diversity and cultural beauty of the French-speaking community as well as encouraging and promoting French language learning and teaching.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the UD, said that the UD is the destination, the cradle of teaching and learning French language and culture. Since 1980s, French has been taught at University of Science and Technology – UD. Since 1995, the UD has become an active member of the Francophone University Association, and is also a member of Conference of Rectors of French-speaking universities (CONFRASIE). The bachelor’s degree in French language is being taught at UFLS-UD.

The UD has many officials, lecturers, alumni, students who have studied and researched in English-speaking countries, making important contributions to the development of the UD in particular, Vietnam – France strategic partnership in general.

In its international cooperation strategy, the UD always attaches importance to and prioritizes establishing close cooperation with French-speaking organizations and diplomatic agencies in Da Nang city, the Central Highlands region as well as the whole country.

Up to now, the UD has had cooperative relationships with nearly 30 partners with many meaningful programs and activities: implementing French language training programs, exchanging lecturers and students; doing joint research cooperation, in which the UFLS-UD has played an active role.
