From August 17 to 20, 2026, the University of Danang - Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU) hosted an external assessment of three degree programs in accordance with the international standards of the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA): the Engineer of Information Technology program, the Engineer of Computer Engineering Technology program, and the Bachelor of Business Administration program.

The external assessment team was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chavalit Wongse-ek, Vice Chairman of the AUN-QA Council and Head of the Assessment Team, together with leading experts from Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, including Prof. Dr. Yahaya Md. Sam, Prof. Dr. Arnel Onesimo O. Uy, Prof. Dr. Isabel Pefianco Martin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aphichart Rodchanarowan, Dr. Yrika Marie R. Dusaran, and Ms. Jirachaya Saithong.

According to Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of UD-VKU, the external assessment marks a new milestone reflecting the University's sustained efforts and strong commitment to continuously improving the quality of education and scientific research, strengthening international integration, and enhancing its regional and international standing.

As a member university of UD, UD-VKU has consistently focused on education and research in information technology, digital technology, and the digital economy. The University continuously updates its curricula, educational approaches, and research methods in line with technological developments, labor market demands, and societal needs, thereby better meeting the expectations of learners, employers, and other stakeholders.

A key feature of the three assessed programs is their strong emphasis on developing students practical and hands-on competencies. Students are encouraged to apply their professional knowledge from an early stage through projects, research topics, and practical products, as well as actively participate in domestic and international academic and innovation competitions. These activities contribute to strengthening students' foreign language proficiency and international integration skills.

In addition, UD-VKU has implemented Japanese-Vietnamese and Korean-Vietnamese bilingual degree programs in cooperation with businesses, expanding employment opportunities for students at reputable enterprises both in Vietnam and abroad.

Each year, more than 100 UD-VKU students participate in international exchange programs in countries across the region and around the world. At the same time, resources from international cooperation projects, including the ODA project funded by the Korean Government, have contributed to enhancing the University's capacity in education and research, improving facilities, and promoting innovation in university governance.

The external assessment team's working agenda included sessions to review documents and assessment materials; in-depth meetings with faculties, degree programs, and self-assessment teams; and, particularly, interviews with lecturers, professional and administrative staff, students, alumni, employers, and enterprises. The team also surveyed facilities, lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, learning spaces, and innovation facilities to conduct an objective, rigorous, and evidence-based assessment.

Representatives of the AUN-QA assessment team acknowledged and highly appreciated the University's efforts, achievements, and strengths. Initial findings from the assessment indicated that the curricula had been scientifically designed and closely aligned with the University's educational philosophy and the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, with learning outcomes structured in accordance with Bloom's Taxonomy and benchmarked against regional quality standards in ASEAN.

The graduate employment rate one year after graduation has remained high, at over 90%, with many cohorts recording rates ranging from 92% to 96.6%.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chavalit Wongse-ek, Vice Chairman of the AUN-QA Council and Head of the Assessment Team, in addition to recognizing the University's thorough preparation, seriousness, and high sense of responsibility, the external assessment is not merely a process of evaluating the University's quality assurance activities and degree programs. More importantly, it provides an opportunity for the University's faculty members and students to reflect on their achievements, conduct objective benchmarking, identify strengths, and determine areas that should be prioritized for further improvement.

This process contributes practical value to the sustainable development of UD-VKU and reinforces the University's commitment to learners and stakeholders throughout its international integration process.

UD-VKU's proactive participation in the AUN-QA external assessment of three degree programs demonstrates that educational quality is a strategic priority and a consistent focus of the University. Previously, all three programs had undergone national accreditation and been recognized as meeting national quality standards in 2023.

Also in 2026, UD-VKU underwent institutional accreditation and was recognized as meeting national higher education quality standards.
