UD-VKU organized International Conference on Semiconductors - ICOS 2026

06/01/2026

On January 6th, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) - The University of Da Nang (UD), in collaboration with the Semiconductor Engineers Association (ISE) (Korea) organized the International Conference on Semiconductors (ICOS 2026).

This is the first in-depth international scientific conference on semiconductors held in Central Vietnam, marking a significant step in Da Nang 's academic integration strategy.

ICOS 2026 was attended by many international professors and experts, including Professor Hoi-Jun Yoo (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) who presented on the development directions of artificial intelligence microchips; and Professor Harald Kuhn (ENAS Institute of Nanoelectronic Systems Research) who analyzed the trends and challenges of heterojunction and advanced encapsulation technologies.

Associate Professor Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of VKU-UD stated that Da Nang aims to become one of Vietnam's top three centers for semiconductor and microchip industries by 2030, based on building an ecosystem and developing high-quality human resources, in line with the National Strategy for Semiconductor Industry Development to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to Rector of VKU-UD Huynh Cong Phap, ICOS 2026 is not just an academic conference, but also aims to form long-term collaborative relationships such as joint research projects, co-authored scientific publications, shared laboratories, and faculty and student exchange programs.

At the Plenary Session, delegates listened to and discussed 03 reports: “K-AI Semiconductor’s Future” (Professor Hoi-Jun Yoo); “Driving Innovation Through Hetero-Integration: Technologies, Challenges, and Future Directions”( Professor Harald Kuhn); “Can Digital Healthcare help solve the Shortage of Medical Professionals?”( Professor Myung Hoon Sunwoo).

ICOS 2026 comprises 72 scientific papers by nearly 300 authors and groups of authors, presented in numerous in-depth technical sessions, reflecting key research directions in the semiconductor and systems field, including: semiconductor materials and devices; analog, RF, power and sensor integrated circuits; digital integrated circuits, artificial intelligence hardware and systems; design tools, methods and testing; advanced packaging technologies, heterogeneous integration; interdisciplinary systems and applications.
