UD-VKU hosted 2nd international student research and innovation forum AWRIS 2025

The 2nd ACIR+ Workshop of Research and Innovation for Students (AWRIS 2025) officially opened at  Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), the University of Danang (UD).

Attending the event were Professors Mizuhito Ogawa, Satoshi Ono and Nguyễn Lê Minh from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST); Professor Jean-Yves Marion of the University of Lorraine, France; together with leaders and representatives from universities and research institutes including: ESEO (France); King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand); Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology; Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Information Technology Institute – Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Phenikaa University; University of Information and Communication Technology – Thai Nguyen University; Academy of Cryptography Techniques (ACTVN); College of Information and Communication Technology – Can Tho University, among others.

According to Dr. Huỳnh Ngọc Thọ, Vice Rector of UD-VKU, this is an annual academic event organized by VKU in coordination with the ACIR Community and FISU Vietnam, with sponsorship support from KOICA, Hanwha Life and the ChildFund Korea Fund.

Welcoming distinguished delegates, scientists, international experts and outstanding students from member universities of the ACIR Community, UD-VKU’s leadership emphasized that AWRIS 2025 is not only an academic forum for research and innovation, but also a meaningful platform for universities in the region and internationally to connect, expand cooperation and share knowledge.

It also offers students from multiple countries the opportunity to meet, engage in cultural exchange and learn from one another, thereby strengthening solidarity, friendship and the foundation for sustainable collaboration in information technology, communications and the digital economy.

According to the Organizing Committee, AWRIS 2025 features 10 outstanding student teams representing reputable universities and research institutes from ASEAN countries and beyond. Their projects span advanced, high-impact scientific and practical domains, including: IoT systems for smart campuses; AI applications in malicious website detection; anti-spoofing facial recognition; a Khmer language chatbot; voice fraud detection; drone-enabled logistics optimization; cloud-based learning infrastructure; computer vision for transportation infrastructure; AI-integrated hardware solutions; and software fault prediction.

In addition to academic sessions, AWRIS 2025 offers a variety of supplementary activities such as networking events and visits to notable landmarks in Danang, enriching students’ cultural understanding and experiential learning.
