UD-UED strengthens international collaboration to advance STEM teacher development

On July 28, 2026, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) and Guiyang Institute of Humanities and Technology jointly launched the China–ASEAN STEM Teachers’ Training Project during the 2026 China–ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing teacher education and fostering regional academic collaboration.

The program represents a significant milestone in educational cooperation between higher education institutions in China and ASEAN countries. It also serves as one of the featured activities of the 2026 China–ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, highlighting the growing role of international partnerships in addressing emerging educational challenges.

Running from July 28 to August 2, the program brings together education leaders, researchers, academics, and schoolteachers from China, Vietnam, and Thailand. UD-UED sent a delegation of university leaders, faculty members, and experts from the Faculties of Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry, Biology–Agriculture–Environment, and Primary and Preschool Education. UD-VNUK also joined the initiative alongside several Vietnamese and international higher education institutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Minh, Rector of UD-UED, emphasized that educational innovation should extend beyond teaching methodologies and digital tools. More importantly, it should equip future generations with the competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world.

"Teachers are expected not only to deliver knowledge, but also to create inspiring learning environments where students develop critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and the responsible use of technology," he said.

He noted that investing in teachers is fundamentally an investment in the future of every nation. Enhancing educators' professional capacity is essential to building resilient education systems capable of adapting to rapid technological and societal change.

Representatives of Guizhou Province highlighted the growing momentum of China–ASEAN cooperation, particularly with Vietnam, noting that education, science and technology, and innovation have become strategic pillars driving sustainable development across the region.

Throughout the program, participants shared a common view that STEM education provides the foundation for scientific advancement, technological innovation, and digital transformation. They agreed that strengthening STEM teachers' capacity requires sustained international collaboration to leverage the complementary expertise and resources of partner institutions.

During academic sessions, administrators, researchers, and faculty members from UD-UED worked with international colleagues to explore collaborative models for STEM education. Discussions focused on interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, technology integration, and innovative educational solutions capable of generating practical and sustainable impacts across specialized fields.

Beyond serving as a platform for academic exchange, the program is expected to evolve into a long-term innovation ecosystem that promotes collaboration in educational technology, supports the advancement of STEM education, and contributes to the internationalization of higher education throughout the region.
