On September 14, 2026, a working session and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony took place at the University of Danang (UD) between the leadership representatives of UD and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia.

Attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice President of UD; Prof. Peta Wyeth, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS); and Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Diep, Director of the Australia-Vietnam Strategic Technology Center.

Also joining the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Cong Tien and Mr. Duong Hoang Van Ban, Deputy Heads of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority (DSEZA), along with representatives from the Office and relevant functional departments of UD (Science and International Cooperation; Student Affairs, Corporate Relations and Communications; Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and DSEZA.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice President of UD, the official signing and exchange of the MOU establishes a foundational framework that leverages the potential and strengths of both sides. This initiative aligns with their strategic development goals to continuously enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and international cooperation.

Welcoming the UTS delegation to UD, the UD leadership highly praised UTS's international reputation and its strong capacity in engineering and technology fields. They expressed confidence that this partnership will enable both institutions to share expertise and experiences in research, innovation, technology application, and transfer.

According to Prof. Peta Wyeth, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney, UTS highly appreciates the reputation and standing of the University of Danang (UD) in training high-quality human resources and promoting science and technology for sustainable development goals.

The University of Technology Sydney expressed its readiness to share expertise and cooperate with UD in implementing advanced training and professional development programs in strategic technology fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, and Smart Cities, while also promoting the application transfer and commercialization of research outcomes.

Under the MOU between UD and UTS, both sides agreed to focus cooperation on key areas: exchanging faculty members, students, and experts, co-supervising PhD candidates, and implementing work-integrated learning internship programs; developing joint research groups in fields such as AI, digital technology, and smart city development; sharing experiences in connecting knowledge and technology with enterprises and markets; and boosting innovation and university-enterprise collaboration.

On the same day, UD and UTS, in coordination with DSEZA, organized a "Triple Helix" seminar themed "Triple Helix on Research, Innovation, and Human Resource Development," with the participation of Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, and representatives from the leadership of the three stakeholder groups.
