On 27 August, 2025, representatives of the Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba (Japan), outlined new scholarship and exchange opportunities for lecturers and students in medicine, pharmacy, biology, and chemistry at three member institutions of the University of Danang (UD), underscoring a 2023 memorandum of understanding between the two sides.

UD’s Department of Science and International Cooperation said the partnership will step up faculty and student mobility, notably through Japan’s government-backed Sakura Science Initiative.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiong Ho of the Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba, said that the Japanese government is offering MEXT postgraduate scholarships (master’s and doctoral) in health-related fields, describing them as an opportunity for qualified Vietnamese candidates to advance their training in Japan’s high-standard academic environment.

Separately, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) has launched a Japanese-language course with Nippon Tsubasa Education (NTE) and partners from Kushiro City to prepare students for six- to 12-month internships in Japan starting in January 2026.

Vice-Rector Nguyen Van Hieu of UD-UED said the university is proactively engaging industry and overseas partners to broaden domestic and international internship pathways.

The course aims to bring students up to the N4 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and provides interview coaching along with workplace etiquette and cultural orientation.

NTE Director Dinh Thanh Tung said the company will assign a team of experts and instructors to support participants’ preparation.

Officials from Kushiro City — including Regional Development Director (Commerce and Industry Division) Saito Dai and Head of the General Affairs and Project Development Division Harada Takayuki — also spoke at the launch, encouraging students in their career planning.
