Typical lecturers who inspired their students to the passion in research and creativity (Part 1)

In the context of industrial revolution 4.0, universities not only had a mission to spread knowledge (according to the direction of research or application orientation) but also continued to develop into innovative universities. In addition, the role of lecturers was to help students know how to link theory to practice, shorten the gap between lecture halls and enterprises, foster a passion for learning and research to develop thinking, quality and professional skills in the digital age as well.
In the beginning of the new school year 2020-2021, Center for Learning Information Resources and Communication, the University of Danang (UD) respectfully introduced a series of articles about several typical lecturers inspiring students with their learning and creativity, making a practical contribution to the community.

Assoc. Prof. Le Phuoc Cuong, Faculty of Environment, University of Science and Technology, the University of Danang (DUT-UD)
Part 1: The passion for research, creativity and environmental protection
It is known that Assoc. Prof. Le Phuoc Cuong is currently a Senior Lecturer of Faculty of Environment, DUT - UD. He graduated with outstanding result (01-year early graduation) from Kazan National Research University, the Russian Federation, majoring in Industrial Biotechnology.
Most of his scientific research works always aimed at health and environment protection such as: Toxin treatment technique in polluted environment (engine gas, asphalt materials ...) or methods for defining biological toxins in the human body etc.

on health and environmental protection
When he was a student, he had highly appreciated research projects including 12 scientific articles published in prestigious journals such as a research project which was patented by the Russian Government and awarded the Lobachevsky Prize.

Leading the student scientific research movement
As a Senior Lecturer of Faulty of Environment, DUT-UD, Assoc. Prof. Le Phuoc Cuong always tried his best to spread his passion for scientific research to colleagues and students.
From 2008 up to now, he had had more than 70 scientific research projects, 03 textbooks, monographs as well as chaired many scientific and technological topics at all levels and published a lot of articles at domestic and international prestigious conferences and magazines.

Spreading "reading culture" among students
His scientific research topics were highly appreciated due to practical applications such as: The ability of reusing waste cotton to grow mushrooms and produce organic fertilizers; The process of accumulating environmental toxins in the residential community (in the industrial zones of the Central are-Western Highlands) or the accumulation study on environmental toxins by the hair analysis method (in Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city), the study on successful application of magnetic filtration model to recover heavy metals from plating factories (in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) ... A lot of agencies and enterprises had highly evaluated his research results such as Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company.

Sharing experiences and supporting students in studying
Da Nang Department of Health had also directed and coordinated with hospitals and medical centers to propose solutions for using his research results on accumulation of environmental toxins in residential communities at industrial zones to ensure health, contributing to environmental protection for citizen ...

Accompanying with students in the creative "playground"
As a DUT-UD’s lecturer and scientific researcher, Assoc. Prof. Le Phuoc Cuong always inspired his passion for research and innovation in entrepreneurship into students. The BK study group model connecting lecturers and students with solutions to apply treatment technology and environmental protection such as: Water treatment with friendly "green technology"; the research on completing the system of geological survey and exploration by 2D, 3D methods ... was initiated by Lecturer Le Phuoc Cuong and funded by the Saigon Economic Times’ Fund.

Being honored to become Associate Professor at the age of 34, Mr. Le Phuoc Cuong always conveyed a message to his students: "Always be confident and affirm the intellectual strength of Vietnamese youth!"
"Despite many difficulties, you should boldly propose new and practical ideas to people's lives; in any fields, with passion, determination and development orientation, you will definitely achieve success”, said Assoc. Prof. Le Phuoc Cuong.
