Training to ensure the quality of training programs according to domestic and international standards

On June 4-5, The University of Danang - University of Economics (UD-DUE) organized a training course on quality assurance (QA) of training programs according to ACBSP international standards (USA).

This was a program with the support of partners and experts within the framework of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform Project (PHER) in which The University of Danang (UD) is one of the three leading universities in Vietnam participating with 02 Vietnam National Universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh - Vice Rector of UD-DUE, the work of quality assurance and accreditation of training programs was meaningful and important not only to review and identify strengths and weaknesses, thereby continuously improving, serving the goal of constantly improving the quality of training and scientific research, but also contributing to affirming and enhancing the reputation and position of the university.

Organizing training courses on accreditation of training programs according to international standards was an opportunity for staff and lecturers to exchange and learn from experts, actively support the work of quality assurance, and prepare for the quality accreditation roadmap according to ACBSP Standards.

At the Program, delegates were introduced to the content and requirements for accreditation according to ACBSP Standards for training programs; practiced assessing the level of output standards according to ACBSP criteria; received guidance from experts and shared experiences in preparing and completing necessary documents and evidence, thereby contributing to raising awareness and capacity for relevant staff and lecturers.

ACBSP is a set of accreditation standards following the Baldrige model process, in which assessment is based on the learner-centered principle, thereby measuring and evaluating quality based on the excellence of lecturers and learning outcomes of students in a continuous improvement model to ensure that training programs in the fields of economics and business, provide students with knowledge and skills that meet the requirements and capabilities of employers.

On June 7, 2024, The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) organized a training workshop to deploy the assessment of the level of achievement of program learning outcome  standards (PLO) according to domestic standards.

According to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Vice Rector of UD-DUT, this was the third workshop organized to continue to equip and guide staff and lecturers to master the tools to assess the level of program learning outcome  standards. Staff and lecturers will deploy the pilot assessment right away in the second semester of this academic year to provide comments, feedback, improvements and build software as an assessment tool.

Speaking at the Workshop, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Lam - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council said that this was a task that the university's leaders pay special attention to and direct in order to implement the strategic goal of quality assurance for sustainable development.

At the Workshop, delegates were trained on key contents such as: (1) Instructions on assessing the level of achievement of PLO; Practice based on the guidance of the Task Force and exchange and discussion; Exchange and guidance on assessing the level of achievement of course learning outcomes standards (CLOs).

Previously, UD-DUT issued and implemented a Plan to measure and evaluate the level of achievement of training program output standards; established a Steering Committee and a Specialized Team; organized 02 workshops to guide and train staff and lecturers from January 2024.
