The University of Danang’s leaders welcomed and worked with the Ehime Prefectural Assembly delegation

On February 19, 2025, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son, Vice President of the University of Danang (UD), chaired a meeting with the delegation from the Ehime Prefectural Assembly, Japan, led by Mr. Ikawa Tsuyoshi. The delegation visited UD to discuss potential collaborations.

The meeting was attended by representatives from key departments within the UD, including Department of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance, Department of Science and International Cooperation, and the Japan Center.

Overview of the meeting

In the remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son warmly welcomed the Japanese delegation and provided an overview of the UD. He highlighted that the UD is a leading university in Vietnam, with a large-scale training system that ranks among the largest universities in the country. The UD has approximately 65,000 students, including nearly 55,000 full-time students, across six member universities and one affiliated institution, along with other training centers.

The UD is entrusted by the Vietnamese government with the mission of providing high-quality human resources for the Central and Central Highlands regions, as well as the entire country. It offers training in various fields, including engineering and technology, economic management, natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, education, foreign languages, healthcare,…

Many UD alumni have gone on to achieve significant success, holding key positions in government agencies, businesses, organizations, and academic institutions. This reflects the university’s strong reputation and contributions to society.

The UD values international cooperation, particularly with Japan, and has established strong partnerships with Japanese universities, organizations, and businesses over the years.

Many UD faculty members have received advanced training at Japanese universities. Additionally, Japanese organizations and enterprises have closely supported the UD by offering scholarships, Japanese language training, and opportunities for students to intern and work in Japan.

Notably, the UD has a dedicated Japan Center that serves as a focal point for initiating and implementing cooperation projects with Japanese partners. The university also has University of Foreign Language Studies – UD, which includes the Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture, training students with Japanese proficiency to meet the demands of high-quality human resources. These advantages provide a strong foundation for the UD to further develop its collaborations with trusted Japanese partners.

Mr. Ikawa Tsuyoshi, representing the Ehime Prefectural Assembly delegation, expressed his delight at visiting the UD in the beautiful and hospitable coastal city of Da Nang. He emphasized that with 2025 being the Year of the Snake, symbolizing good fortune, both sides could look forward to numerous collaboration opportunities in the future.

The Ehime delegation highly valued UD’s prestige and reputation as one of the leading universities in the Central Vietnam. Japanese businesses increasingly require high-quality human resources and are open to accepting talented students from UD for internships and employment.

The partners expressed their hope that through this visit and discussions with the UD, they could better understand the university’s needs, strengthen collaboration, and work towards a future where more UD students to study, develop their careers, and work in Japan, including in Ehime Prefecture.

The delegates exchanged ideas and proposed directions for cooperation, such as promoting opportunities and policies to enhance collaboration between Ehime Prefecture and Da Nang, fostering partnerships between Japanese universities and local institutions with UD, and jointly organizing cultural exchange events to strengthen people-to-people relations.

The UD expressed its desire for the Ehime Assembly delegation, in its role as a bridge, to help connect the UD with prestigious universities, research institutes, and businesses in the region, fostering collaboration in training, workforce development, and high-quality human resource utilization. The Japanese partners affirmed their willingness to support and facilitate the exchange of faculty members, lecturers, and students for study, research, and work, contributing to the province’s development.
