The program aimed to bring students and interns an interesting and meaningful experience during the upcoming traditional Vietnamese New Year. UD-UED’s leadership representative sent the best wishes to the international students, hoped that through this program, they would understand more about the cultural features imbued with Vietnamese national identity, and feel the warm traditional New Year atmosphere as if they were in their own homeland.

International students demonstrated calligraphy culture
At the Program, many cultural exchange and learning activities with unique traditional customs of Vietnamese Lunar New Year were presented in vivid, attractive and appealing forms such as: Introducing the skill of wrapping Chung cake to express the cultural features of gratitude to ancestors and grandparents, wishing for favorable weather and wind; culinary exchange, enjoying Tet dishes associated with meaningful folk stories; performing calligraphy with humane wishes and folk games to help international students experience and feel the spirit of solidarity, love and kindness of Vietnamese people through many generations.

Practicing to write Vietnamese in oriental calligraphy style
According to Karel, a Vietnamese language student from the Czech Republic, shared: “I have been studying at UD-UED for nearly half a year and I feel warm to participate in an interesting cultural program to experience Vietnamese Tet the first time. I feel close and attracted by activities such as writing calligraphy, wrapping Chung cake or being lucky to receive lucky money envelopes on the occasion of Tet, which is very special and typical of Vietnamese people”.

“Experiencing calligraphy is also an opportunity to practice language to understand more about Eastern culture”, Dasoon from Taiwan (China) expressed.
Although they have only been in Vietnam for a week and do not know much Vietnamese, the students from Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Thailand, said that the most impressive thing for them was trying on traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai and were very happy to receive the third prize in the Chung cake and Tet cake Wrapping Competition. Although wearing Ao Dai to wrap Chung cake and Tet cake was quite difficult because it required skill, meticulousness, and perseverance, this was an experience that Mookky would never forget.

Experiencing Vietnamese Tet helps international students connect with Vietnamese culture, strengthen their attachment to the university and build bridges of friendship
UD-UED currently has more than 350 international students and trainees studying professional programs, student exchange programs and Vietnamese language for foreigners. It was the first destination from where international students spread to UD’s member universities to continue their undergraduate and postgraduate studies, explore knowledge and experience Vietnamese culture and customs through useful activities that UD-UED always cares about, creates opportunities to organize, and brings a friendly and integrated learning environment for international students.
