The University of Danang trained source lecturers on integrated training methods within the framework of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform Project

On the morning of June 17, within the framework of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform Project (PHER) of The University of Danang (UD), the opening ceremony of the Training Program for Source Lecturers on Integrated Training Methods took place.

Attending the event were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD; Dr. Rick Hopper - Director of PHER Project; Ms. Phuong To Tam - Manager of PHER Project; PHER Project Education Experts: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mike Truong, Dr. Tasha Bleistein; representatives of relevant departments (Personnel Management, Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, ODA Project Management) and staff and lecturers of UD.

In the opening speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son, Vice President of UD, said that the content of this training session continued within the framework of the Capacity Building Program on Innovative Teaching and Learning Methods under the PHER Project.

Vice President of UD Le Quang Son highly appreciated the results of organizing training for 21 source lecturers of UD to apply advanced teaching and learning methods from the experience of Indiana University, USA. This result has been replicated to more than 128 staff and lecturers, thereby spreading and bringing about positive improvements contributing to improving the quality of training.

Following those results and experiences, UD continues to train 35 source lecturers on integrated teaching methods. This is an advanced training method, highly applicable, suitable for the 4.0 education trend, it also takes advantage of the advantages of direct and online training forms, while creating a comprehensive and effective learning environment and experience for learners.

Today's source lecturers will be the core to participate in developing a community of lecturers and teaching assistants with high expertise and pedagogical skills at member universities and units of UD, representative of UD leadership shared.

According to Dr. Richard Hopper - Director of the PHER Project, the focus of the training is on integrated training methods to support methods and experiences in organizing teaching and learning activities from the process of designing lectures to applying online teaching tools, with active participation of students.

The source lecturers trained in this session will continue to guide and support other lecturers to achieve the Program's goal of improving the quality of teaching and learning by enhancing interdisciplinary cohesion and integration for learners to promote initiative and creativity in the process of acquiring and developing knowledge.

At the intensive training sessions, delegates and trainees listened to useful reports from experts, discussed and shared practical experiences, focusing on key topics such as: (1) Developing curriculum, how to design effective lectures; (2) Designing teaching and learning organization, how to build attractive and effective course content; (3) Integrating advanced technology in teaching and learning, how to choose and apply smart technology; (4) Evaluating learners' learning outcomes according to integrated training methods.

With a flexible combination of in-person and online formats, the Training Program took place in many sessions, creating favorable conditions for lecturers to master knowledge, skills and learn from experts.

This was also a good opportunity for staff and lecturers of member universities and units of UD to raise their awareness, develop thinking, innovate and improve teaching methods and content, contribute to perfecting the academic environment to become increasingly better quality and efficiency.

Previously, also within the framework of the PHER Project, UD also successfully organized technical support sessions on the training program monitoring system and education quality assurance; promoted the spirit of scientific integrity and research ethics in academia; gender equality, women's empowerment in education and research.

Through these training sessions, member universitie and affiliated units of UD had more opportunities to approach experts, learn and apply experiences from leading universities in the United States; improve autonomy and governance innovation capacity, serve the strategic goals of sustainable development, contribute to improving the quality of training, research, innovation and international integration.
