On August 25, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD) led the UD's delegation to visit and work with Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh city (VNUHCM).

Also attending were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam – Vice President of VNUHCM; Dr. Phan Minh Duc - Chair of the Council of UD; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD; Leadership representatives of member universities, Offices of Administrative Affairs and relevant departments of the two universities.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Hai Quan - President of VNUHCM was pleased and honored to welcome the delegation of UD to visit, work and sign the MOU with VNUHCM. President of VNUHCM introduced and shared the highlights and overview of the system and development strategy of VNUHCM.

The President of VNUHCM shared the hope and belief that the two universities would increase sharing experiences in innovating university administration; developing appropriate and effective policies; promoting resources and strengths in order to develop together for common benefits and serving the community.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD shared that UD is a national key regional university with a model, organizational system, and university administration that have similarities with VNUHCM and are two-level, multidisciplinary management universities.

The policy of developing UD into a National University was included in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo. UD has issued the Development Strategy until 2030, vision to 2045; Project and Action Program to develop UD into a National University.

This is the basis for the two universities to promote their potentials and advantages, cooperate and share experiences to perfect the model and strategy for sustainable development in the new period.

UD and the two National Universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city already have a good cooperative relationship, especially the coordination, proposal and implemented ODA projects with the World Bank, Projects Partnership for Higher Education Reform (PHER) with US partners.

Following the signing MOU with Vietnam National University in Hanoi (December 2022, please learn more here), the signing MOU by UD and VNUHCM was to promote the potential and strengths of each side to jointly carry out the national strategic tasks, regional development of the country in training high-quality human resources, scientific research and technology transfer in key fields serving socio-economic development and international integration.

In the presence of the delegates, Assocc.Prof.Dr. Vu Hai Quan - President of VNUHCM and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD signed an MOU with cooperation content for a period of 05 years, the focus included:

Regarding training, assurance and accreditation of educational quality: The two sides coordinate to organize the Competency Assessment Examination for regular university admission; Coordinate virtual filtering of applications for regular university admission among southern schools; Invite visiting lecturers and participate in councils; Organize courses and seminars; Training to improve the capacity of officials and lecturers; Cooperate and share experiences in university ranking, benchmarking  education quality and university administration, etc.

Regarding scientific research and international cooperation: The two sides coordinate to deploy research topics and joint projects to contribute to solving urgent and key scientific tasks serving regional and national development; Enhance opportunities and exchange experiences between experts and scientists; Cooperate in developing projects from international funding sources; Coordinate for the development and implementation of international student exchange programs; Cooperate to upgrade the Science and Technology Magazine of the two universities towards international standards; Co-organize national and international scientific conferences and seminars, etc.

The leaders of the two universities agreed to assign relevant universities and affiliated units based on the signed cooperation content to promote concretization and effective implementation in accordance with real needs and conditions, specific practices and contexts in each stage.

The signing of MOU by UD and VNUHCM was a mark of raising the level of comprehensive and effective cooperation, contributing to implementing the mission of pioneering innovation and international integration; improving the quality of training and scientific research, actively contributing to the cause of Industrialization-Modernization and national development.
