The University of Danang organized the award of the Scientific Research Students Award for the academic year 2021-2022 and the 4th Young Innovation Festival & Exhibition in 2022

On the morning of October 22, towards the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2022), the University of Danang (UD) solemnly held the Opening Ceremony "The 4th Festival of Science and Technology for students at UD, 2022"; Summarizing, awarding and launching the "Scientific Research Students Award at UD"; Exhibition displaying products of science and technology, creativity of students with the theme: "Spreading the spirit of young innovation".

Welcome performance
The program was coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang city, with the companion and sponsor of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), Hai Van Branch and Viettel IDC in order to continue promoting activities of science and technology for students; contribute youth to build Da Nang into a "smart" city, "an innovation and start-up center" of the central region and the whole country.

Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa, Director of BIDV Bank, Hai Van Branch; Mr. Pham Ngoc Truc - Director of Viettel IDC in the central; leadership representatives of UD’s member universities and affiliated units; Offices, relevant departments/centers of UD; the instructors and students/ groups of students, who were the authors of the award winning scientific and technological projects and products, participated in the Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of UD affirmed that scientific research is not only one of the two key tasks of higher education but the solution, the motivation to improve the quality of training as well. “It is necessary to link between teaching, learning and scientific research and innovation to create qualitative changes in the university environment, in order to contribute to improving the quality of training and scientific research, spreading the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students”.

Vice President of UD Le Quang Son highlighted the meaning and purpose of the Festival to summarize, evaluate and award the UD's Science Research Students Award for the academic year 2021-2022, thereby timely motivating and recognizing the development of students on the journey of research and creation; at the same time, launching the UD's Science Research Students Award for the academic year 2022-2023.
Along with the mission of training high-quality human resources, over the past time, UD has implemented many Science and Technology cooperation programs with prestigious localities and enterprises at home and abroad, thereby connecting all together to promote the development of science and technology, especially in the fields of high technology and innovative start-ups. "Lecturers and students of UD are always aware of their mission and make efforts to actively contribute to the socio-economic development of Da Nang city as well as localities in the Central Highlands region and the whole country."

The first prize in the fields of Engineering Science and Technology; Natural Science; Medicine and Pharmacy Science was awarded to student Do Thi Ngoc Hang (The University of Danang -University of Technology and Education) with the topic: "Research on antimicrobial activity oxidation of some natural phenolic acid compounds by chemical calculation method”.

The first prize in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities was awarded to a group of students Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trinh and Ngo Thi Toan (The University of Danang - University of Economics) with the topic "Mirror mirror on the wall, which brand's the coolest of them all?: A multi-technique qualiative linquiry into children's perceptions of brand coolness”.
The students/ groups of students who won the First Prizes were honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the President of UD and a bonus of 20 million VND/prize.

02 Second Prizes belonged to student Thai Ba Hoa (The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology) with the topic: "Experimental analysis of the LQR self-balancing process of the sliding pendulum system controlled by C2000 microprocessor" and the group of students Tran Thi Thu, Nguyen Khai Tam, Nguyen Thanh An (The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies) with the topic: "An investigation into factors influencing UFLS third-year students motivation in studying Translation and Interpreting online".
The students/ groups of students who won the Second Prizes were honored to be presented with Certificates of Merit from the President of UD and a bonus of 15 million VND/prize.

02 Third Prizes belonged to the group of students Pham Vu Thu Nguyet, Nguyen Quang Chung, Ho Thanh Phong, Nguyen Van To Thanh (The University of Danang - Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology) with the topic: "Research and building the preliminary clinical diagnosis support system using artificial intelligence”, and a group of students Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Tran Phuong Dung, Nguyen Le Tuong Vi (The University of Danang - University of Science and Education) with the topic: "Phiem Ai Village (Dai Loc, Quang Nam) from the 16th century to the early 20th century”.
The students/ groups of students who won the Third Prizes were honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the President of UD and a bonus of VND 08 million/prize.

The students/ groups of students who won the Consolation Prizes were honored to be presented with Certificates of Merit from the President of UD and a bonus of 5 million VND.
At the ceremony, leaders of UD signed a cooperation agreement with the following units: National Innovation Center, Ministry of Planning and Investment; The Management Board of Da Nang Hi-tech Park and Industrial Parks that jointly implement common tasks, focus on supporting and promoting scientific research and innovation activities, fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among students.

The interest of delegates, departments, industries, businesses and universities to encourage and spread the spirit of innovation among UD’s students
Right after the Opening Ceremony was an Exchange Program with prestigious experts and speakers in various fields which created opportunities for UD students to meet, learn from experience and inspire research and start-up creation.
This year Youth Innovation Festival - through its fourth season, was organized more and more professionally with nearly 50 products, scientific research and creative works of students/ groups of students at UD’s member universities, affiliated units, which were selected and exhibited to get the attention of delegates, lecturers and students to exchange and visit.

Exchange program with experts inspires innovation and start-up for students
The projects and works of UD’s students this year were all scientific and applied on the basis of STEM education; feasible for further development, serving community benefits such as: Shrimpp biological project from quail by-products and industrial sludge, creating microbial organic fertilizer after the process handle; Clothes for autistic children; Garbage collection device on the water surface; Recycling Siliconized PET Plastics in the Electronic Industries, etc.

Scientific and applied projects and products on the basis of STEM education
The products catch up with the 4.0 technology trend, serving diverse needs in the fields of health, education and environmental protection such as: Devices to assist people with hand tremors; Mobility assistance vehicles for patients with disabilities/ elderly in the hospital; Equipment to measure weather parameters for teaching STEM topics for students; The 9th grade Physics "Electric" kit for students with visual impairments; Online shopping and trying on apps; Hazardous waste management system for the environment, etc.

The products serve the application needs in health, education, environmental protection...
The products exhibited at this Festival may not be the best or the representative of the potential and intelligence of UD’s students, but with the attention of all levels, sectors, and lecturers; the companionship and support of businesses, trust and expectation, the science, technology and innovation activities among students will continue to develop strongly in order to meet practical needs; spread far and wide, contribute to affirming the prestige and reputation of UD as one of the top three training and scientific research centers in the country.
