The University of Danang hosted International Students Day and 2025 New Year Celebration

On December 30, 2024, the University of Danang (UD) held the program “International Students Day – Connection for Sustainable Development and Celebration for the New Year 2025.” The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son, Vice President of UD; Mr. Adrian Fraser Robertson, CEO of MyTeam Company; and more than 100 international students of the UD.

There were also the representatives from UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs, relevant departments (Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance, Science and International Cooperation, Student Affairs), Youth Union, Student Association, and the Center for Learning Information Resource and Communication.

Overview of the event.

In the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son emphasized that in the context of Vietnam’s increasing international integration in education, the UD is committed to fostering an international learning environment in line with the Prime Minister’s Project on “Improving the Quality of Higher Education for the 2019–2025 period” (Decision No. 69/QĐ-TTg). The UD has strategies to strengthen international cooperation and attract global students.

According to the UD’s leader, various training programs are being implemented, including: (1) Full-time undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs; (2) Preparatory and short-term Vietnamese language courses; (3) Short-term exchange and cultural exchange programs (less than 1 year); (4) Internship, study tour, and research programs. These initiatives enhance the UD’s reputation and rankings, making it a trusted destination for international students.

The program served as an opportunity for the UD’s international students to connect, exchange ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of the university. It also aimed to inspire students for the new year, facilitate their journey of acquiring knowledge while fostering regional and global friendship.

During the event, the UD’s Department of Science and International Cooperation provided an overview of achievements in training international students, highlighting strategies and policies to attract global learners in with sustainable development trends.

According to their report, in the academic year 2023–2024, the UD hosted over 500 international students, with University of Science and Education leading in numbers.

The diverse training formats include long-term and short-term programs (such as exchange, internships, cultural exchange), attracted students from 24 countries and territories. These efforts have promoted the UD's image in the process of internationalization.

Notable member universities, such as University of Science and Education and University of Foreign Languages Studies, have become reputable hubs for teaching Vietnamese to foreigners. Meanwhile, other units like University of Economics, Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, and DNIIT International Technology Institute have excelled in organizing internship programs (lasting 2–4 months), attracted students through scholarships, sponsorships, and self-funded programs.

The delegates discussed and shared proposals for solutions to enhance student recruitment, support administrative procedures of international students/interns, and improve training management and scholarship provision for international students. Special emphasis was placed on expanding English-language training programs, credit recognition, and broadening the partner network to contribute to improving the quality and effectiveness of training for international students.

On this occasion, MyTeam company awarded 7 scholarships: three full scholarships worth 1,750 AUD each, three partial scholarships worth 875 AUD each, and one special support scholarship of 1,750 AUD to 7 outstanding students.

The UD’s leaders also recognized and presented gifts to international students with excellent academic and extracurricular achievements.

The event featured vibrant activities such as cultural exchanges, art performances, and games, leaving a positive impression of the UD as a welcoming community for international students as they celebrate the New Year 2025.
