On April 12, on the occasion of the traditional New Year festival of Laos (Bunpimay), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD), hosted the reception with H.E. Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos to Vietnam and his embassy’s delegation.

The reception also drew the attendance of H.E. Mr. Viengxay Phommachanh – Lao Consul General in Danang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD, the Lao Embassy’s staff including political counselor, educational and cultural counselor, defense and public security attachés, leader representatives from the UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs and functional departments.

At the reception, the UD’s Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son reported the overview and highlights of educational cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, especially the training activities of Lao students at the UD.

For his part, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the UD, respectfully welcomed the Lao Ambassador, his spouse and the Lao Embassy’s delegation to visit the UD and hold the exchange with Lao students who are studying at the UD’s member universities and affiliated units.

The UD’s President acknowledged and highly appreciated the Lao Embassy’s delegation for their attention to the UD’s mission of human resources development which contributes to promoting the special traditional friendship between the two countries, especially in the fields of education and training.

Speaking at the meeting, Lao Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang expressed his pleasure to visit the UD and thanked the university’s leaders for giving the delegation a warm welcome.

According to the Ambassador, his visit to the UD aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of education and training, exploring the thoughts and aspirations of Lao students which will serve as the foundation for the Lao Embassy in Vietnam and the UD to join hands to constantly improve the human resources training quality for the development of Laos in the new period.

The Ambassador appreciated the close and effective cooperation between the Lao Embassy with the UD as well as localities including Danang, Kontum in the training of Lao students. At the same time, he expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to strengthen information sharing, improve the quality of teaching and learning Vietnamese language particularly, the training of Lao students in generally, meeting the human needs of Laos as well as enhancing the prestige and status of the UD.

Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang shared his willingness to support the UD to open its campus in Laos, thereby meeting the learning demand, improving the quality of admission and Vietnamese language education so that there will be more successful Lao graduates who contribute effectively to the country development.

On the same day, the Lao Ambassador had an exchange with approximately 150 Lao students out of 700 ones who are studing at the UD.
