Recently, the officials and lecturers of the University of Danang (UD) have consecutively won prestigious scientific awards for their "smart" research and application solutions in the fields of digital transformation and energy savings.

Second Prize of the Viet Solutions-2020 (the National Digital Transformation Solution Competition) with the project "Map4D".

At the Final round and awarding of the "Viet Solutions-2020" international competition, bringing together nearly 350 solutions and products for digital transformation from 23 countries, PhD. Trinh Cong Duy, Director of Software Development Center of UD (SDC) and his colleagues won the second prize (with a cash prize of 100 million VND) with the project "Map4D - Map platform researched and developed by Vietnamese, stored and operated in Vietnam”.

This is considered a hallmark, an outstanding digital transformation solution of the Vietnamese software industry when “owning a 4D mapping platform, in real time, built from separate data layers, being ready for IoT (Internet of Things) connection; having capability of analyzing and synthesizing data from many different layers. This is the chosen solution to build a Vietnam map module in the digitalized Vietnamese knowledge system presided over by the Government”, PhD. Trinh Cong Duy shared.

Digital Map4D is the basis for the next steps towards the goal of building a complete digital twin for a "smart" city, reaching a country of Industry 4.0.

This model connects public-private partnerships, research links between application development and application implementation to serve the local and national needs, towards the fact that Vietnam will have the “Smart Nation” program like Singapore’s, the "Digital Built Britain" model like British Government’s (with Cambridge University). "We expect that next time there will be such a program at UD, deployed for the model of urban government in Da Nang city", PhD. Trinh Cong Duy emphasized.

According to the representative of SDC, the Ministry of Information and Communications will decide to choose Map4D as an application solution for the National Map, serving the management of "smart" cities, opening up many opportunities and new projects for SDC to participate in the national digital transformation process.

Viettel Group will cover all the expenses for 03 winning teams of "Viet Solutions-2020" to participate in the "C1 Start-up Cup Competition” held in the United States (with a total prize pool of  50,000 USD) or attend the Mobile World Conference "MWC-2021" held in Barcelona, Spain.

Third Prize of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award WIPO-2019 with the project of serving the "smart" distribution grid in Da Nang

At the "Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation" Award Ceremony (WIPO-2019), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet – Director of Education Quality Assurance Department, lecturer of University of Science and Technology-UD and his colleagues won the third prize in the field of new energy savings and energy use.

The project "Research to improve the efficiency of Fault Passage Indicator (FPI) to improve the reliability of power supply for the smart distribution grid in Da Nang city)" was 01 in 40 outstanding performances, which were awarded with Awards (05 First prizes, 08 Second prizes, 08 Third prizes, 19 Consolation prizes).

The competition this year brings together nearly 200 scientific and technological research projects in many fields: Mechanical - Automation; Material Technology; Information Technology - Electronics and Telecommunications; New saving and using Energy Technology; Technology to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources; Biology for production and life, etc.

WIPO is a prestigious Science and Technology Award, held annually (25 times over the past 25 years) to honor scientists who have had works that bring scientific value as well as high economic-society value, which has been applying effectively in Vietnam.
