This is one of the 4 initiatives of four leading Vietnamese universities, including: the University of Danang, the Vietnam National University – HCMC, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the HCMC University of Architecture, that are highly appreciated and sponsored by the FUA for the values of community service, prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the peak period of Covid-19 prevention, scientists and lecturers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the UD’s University of Science and Technology have successfully developed and invented useful robot to serve patients in quarantine areas (BK-Anticovid Robot) at the Danang Hospital for Women and Children since March 2020.

This robot is capable of transporting necessities such as food, medications and other personal belongings into quarantine areas for patients, mainly mothers and infants who need special care. The product has practical effects, meeting the requirements of reducing the possibility of cross infections between patients and healthcare staff.

In addition to the UD’s BK-Anticovid robot, 3 other initiatives were also selected and funded by the FAU, including: Covid-19 test kit with low cost, fast and accurate results by using recombinant protein technology (VNU-HCMC), negative-pressure quarantined stretcher at the Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), and Foldable Aerosol Box (HCMC University of Architecture).

According to the FAU, Vietnam prevailed over other Asia – Pacific countries in terms of the number of selected projects. These 4 Vietnamese projects were picked from 2,000 ones that were sent to the FUA’s International Supporting Fund for the Response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The goal of this fund is to accelerate the contributions of tertiary educational institutions to developing possible measures that are serviceable for the overall healthcare system and citizens in overcoming difficulties caused by the pandemic.

The funded projects must display strong commitment to exerting powerful effects in terms of social, economic and technological perspectives. Especially, those that had already been evaluated, certified, nationally accredited and women-led would be put at an advantage.
