President of the University of Danang received and worked with Operation Manager of World Bank Vietnam

On June 18, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD), received and worked with Mrs. Kathy Whimp – Operation Manager of World Bank (WB) Vietnam.

Also attending were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD, Mr. Michael Drabble and Ms. Vo Kieu Dung – senior educational specialists of WB, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thang – senior social development specialist of WB, leader representatives from the UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs and functional departments (ODA Project Management, Planning and Financial Affairs, Science and International Cooperation, Student Affairs).

Overview of the meeting

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu said that in the past time, WB has supported 3 leading universities in Vietnam, including the UD, to implement ODA project with a high sense of responsibility, professionalism and close attention in every stage.

The WB project is not only of great significance to the future and development strategy of the UD, but also important to students in the Central Vietnam region.

The leader of the UD shared that in the context and conditions of regulation system, there are still tasks that need to be improved. Up to now, the UD has achieved significant results, which reflects its great efforts.

For her part, Mrs. Kathy Whimp expressed her interest and reaffirmed that WB always supports the UD in this project.

WB side agreed with the assessments of the UD’s President on the importance and necessity of the ODA project, not only for the development of the UD but also for socio-economic development of localities in the Central region particularly and Vietnam generally.

Mrs. Whimp hoped and believed that the UD and relevant parties would continue to make great efforts, have high determination and perseverance in implementing the project.

Mrs. Whimp said that WB has been and will continue to coordinate with the Da Nang city’s leaders to support the UD to speed up the progress.

The representative of WB expressed her interest in the progress update, hoping that the relevant units as well as every staff member and lecturer of the UD will continue to closely follow this important project.

The UD’s President discussed with WB’s side thoroughly and specifically each main work of the project which have been actively implemented according to the requirements of WB.
