On May 29, 2026, the University of Danang - University of Economics (UD-DUE) hosted an international conference on digital asset development, bringing together leading scholars, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss global experiences and strategic directions for the establishment of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang City (VIFC-DN).
The conference focused on lessons learned from France’s experience in digital finance and digital asset regulation, while exploring opportunities and policy implications for Vietnam as it advances its digital economy agenda.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of UD-DUE, highlighted the significance of the event as a platform for academic exchange and policy dialogue among domestic and international experts, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
The event attracted participants from academia, public institutions, and the financial sector, including specialists in international finance, green finance, digital assets, and financial technology (FinTech). Discussions centered on emerging trends in digital asset evolution and the role of knowledge, innovation, and international cooperation in supporting a globally connected financial ecosystem in Da Nang.

According to university representatives, the development of the VIFC-DN and the Da Nang Free Trade Zone presents both opportunities and challenges related to regulatory frameworks, human resource development, research capacity, and international integration. Addressing these issues will be essential to fostering innovation, promoting green and digital finance, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
As a leading higher education institution in economics, business, and management, UD-DUE continues to contribute to Da Nang’s development strategy through education, research, and policy consultation. The University recently established the Institute for FinTech Research and Training, Innovation, and Sustainable Development to strengthen interdisciplinary research and collaboration in these strategic fields.

Conference sessions covered a range of timely and forward-looking topics, including the transition from traditional to digital finance, digital asset regulatory frameworks in France and Europe, the role of regulatory sandboxes in fostering innovation, risk management in digital asset markets, and policy recommendations for the governance of digital asset exchanges.

The event provided a valuable forum for sharing international best practices and generating policy insights that may contribute to the development of Vietnam’s legal and regulatory framework for digital assets. It also reinforced collaboration among universities, government agencies, and the business community in response to the rapid evolution of the global digital economy.

By fostering dialogue between academia and practice, the conference reaffirmed the UD-DUE’s commitment to supporting innovation, sustainable development, and the advancement of Da Nang as an emerging international financial hub.
