On November 24^th, 2022, The University of Danang (UD) solemnly held “the Honorary Ceremony to Valedictorian and Step Raising to UD’s freshmen” to honour 09 students who had gained top marks in the university entrance examinations for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Attending the ceremony, there were Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee; Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen – Member of Da Nang Municipal Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – UD’s President;   Mr. Le Cong Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union cum Chairman of the Student Association of Da Nang City; Dr. Phan Minh Duc - Chairman of UD’s Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President; leaders of departments, sectors, donors and businesses.

The ceremony attracted the attention of leaders, delegates of Da Nang city and enterprises 

The attendees were also the Rectors/Chairman of Councils of UD’s member universities; senior representatives of UD’s affiliated units; representatives of the Principals boards of high schools having honored students and press agencies; parents and more than 1,000 new UD’s students/students.

President Nguyen Ngoc Vu gave congratulations and special thanks to parents and freshmen for choosing UD to realize their dreams.

“We do hope that the valedictorians will continue to promote their academic achievements to always be a "lighthouse" leading the learning and scientific research movement of UD students; always strive to study for building careers and making a beautiful and powerful Vietnam", said President Nguyen Ngoc Vu.

Each of the 9 students who came top in the overall exams at UD’s member universities and affiliated units (UD-University of Science and Technology, UD- University of Economics, UD- University of Science and Education, UD- University of Foreign Language Studies, UD-University of Technology and Education, UD- Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, UD Campus in Kontum, UD-VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education , UD-School of Medicine and Pharmacy) received a crystal trophy plaque, VND 10 million and a scholarship worth VND 5 million for the MC Skill Course.

Additionally, 4 directly admitted students were given VND 3 million each, whilst 32 students who gained outstanding academic results during the 2021-2022 school year were presented with Certificates of Merit from UD’s President and bonuses of VND 3 million each.

Furthermore, UD also awarded 70 scholarships, including:

• 20 "Overcoming difficulties to study well" scholarships of the Da Nang Study Promotion Association for students in difficult circumstances and with Da Nang household registration and, valued at 5 million VND/student.

• 50 ‘Raising Students' Steps’ scholarships, valued at VND 5 million each, to students overcoming difficult circumstances to achieve excellent result.

The total value of prizes and scholarships awarded was VND 600 million. This is also the 10^th time that UD has organized such a ceremony to honour students gaining top marks and donate ‘Raising Students' Steps’ scholarships.

Besides, at the beginning of the 2022 - 2023 academic year, UD’s member universities and affiliated units awarded their excellent students with a total of more than VND 550 million in rewards and more than VND 6.3 billion in scholarships from their budgets and funds raised from generous organizations, businesses and individuals.

At the ceremony, leaders of UD expressed their desire to continue receiving the valuable attention and support from leaders of Da Nang city as well as localities, businesses and the social community so that UD could strive to realize its aspiration to become a National University of Danang as the spirit of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW issued by the Politburo.

"These are very noble activities. We hope that in the future, students/fresh students who received the scholarship today will look back on this honor ceremony with deep gratitude, continuing to become a donor to support the next generation of students", shared President Nguyen Ngoc Vu.
