27/06/2025

Recently, member universities of the University of Danang (UD), such as University of Economics and University of Foreign Language Studies (UFLS), have engaged in activities connecting experts to share knowledge and experience with lecturers and students. This initiative aims to inspire the application of foreign languages and artificial intelligence (AI) in learning and research.

From June 16-19, 2025, University of Foreign Language Studies - The University of Danang hosted a seminar series titled “Language and Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event featured keynote speaker Ms. Véronique Doppagne from the Advanced Language Institute at the University of Liège (Belgium), who provided fresh perspectives on the application of AI in language education, addressing technological, ethical, and cultural aspects.

According to Dr. Huynh Ngoc Mai Kha, Vice Rector of UFLS, "this event not only serves as an in-depth academic forum connecting knowledge and experts through international cooperation but also helps enhance the university's prestige and position in the regional and global educational landscape."

This seminar is part of a series of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of UFLS. The university is committed to continuously developing global citizens who are resilient, creative, and adaptable to the era of digital transformation, innovation, and international integration.

With its in-depth presentations, open dialogues, and discussions, the seminar attracted a large number of lecturers and students eager to address pressing real-world questions, such as: Can artificial intelligence replace human roles in language learning and teaching? How can AI become an effective educational tool? And what defines the boundaries between challenges and opportunities in language education in the digital age?

Prof. Tom Smith from Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia) also shared his insights with lecturers and students during a workshop organized by University of Economics - The University of Danang, in collaboration with the Knowledge Bridge Institute, on June 18, 2025. The workshop, titled "Mastering Mixed Methods Research: Strategies and Applications," featured Prof. Smith, a prominent finance scholar in Australia with extensive teaching and research experience.

During the workshop, lecturers, students, and researchers at UE engaged with Prof. Smith's discussion on foundational theories of mixed methods research, its design process, model selection, data collection methods, and qualitative/quantitative data analysis. Participants also analyzed practical case studies to gain valuable insights and develop modern scientific research methodologies.

According to university representatives, the workshop offered fresh perspectives and valuable insights drawn from the expert's extensive research experience. It served as a meaningful academic forum that enabled lecturers and students at UE to stay abreast of current trends and methodologies for applying mixed methods in research and innovation in Vietnam.
