DUT- UD wins the silver medal for Applied Informatics in Materials Strength at the 30th National Mechanics Olympiad



The 30th National Mechanics Olympiad officially kicked off on April 15, 2018 in the North, Central and South of Vietnam with three organizers: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, University of Science and Technology – The University of Danang (DUT- UD) and Open University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mechanics Olympiad is an annual competition held since 1989 and was originally co-organized by four organizations namely Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Vietnam Mechanics Association and Vietnamese Student Association.

This is an intellectual playground for students in the technical field to develop and encourage young talents in the field of Mechanics, accelerate the movement of learning Mechanics in universities, and share the training and research experiences among mechanics lovers.

The Central Region Competition was hosted by the DUT – UD with 87 participants from five universities in the region including DUT – UD, Duy Tan University, Central University of Construction, Vinh University and Quy Nhon University.

As a result, DUT - UD won a total of 11 awards, including one silver medal, three bronze medals and seven consolation prizes. Student Ho Van Nhat Phong - Class 15X3C made a remarkable achievement with the silver medal in Applied Informatics in Material Strength of materials and bronze medal in Material Strength under the guidance of Teacher Nguyen Van Thien An - Department of Transportation Mechanical Engineering. Besides, Nhat Phong also reached the absolute points of Material Strength in the UD’s contest of excellent students held on April 8, 2018.
