The University of Danang: Opening “National Biotechnology Conference – Bio Danang 2015”



In the morningof July 7th, Vietnam Society for Biology, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations coordinated with VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), the University of Danang (UD) to organize the “National Biotechnology Conference – Bio Danang 2015”.The Conference was home to more than 150 international and Vietnamese scientists, lecturers to academic exchange and enhance scientific cooperation in biotechnology.



The conference was taken place in two days of July 6th & 7th at UD with plenary sessions of academic activities and scientific reports on four main themes: Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Biofuels, Genes Technology and Life Sciences. Along with the Conference, there was Exhibition of the technologies and biotechnological products, the new drug product of interferon for hepatitis C treatment and DNA evaluation for martyr remains, new approaches in vaccine production and microorganism yeast...



In the opening speech, Prof. Tran Van Nam – President of UD emphasized that this was the intensive academic activity in Biotechnology in Vietnam and international scale, in the series of national scientific conferences on biotechnology and subsequent to the conferences which were held in the ASEAN region. Thereby, the scientists in the fields of Life Sciences and Biotechnology were attracted to exchange, discuss on new findings and future directions in research and application deployment.



"So far, our industry of microbiology revolves around three areas: beer, monosodium glutamate and vaccines. If these fields are seriously invested, we will reap a lot of success. Currently, Vietnam has not yet developed any product from microorganisms or produced any milligram of antibiotic or vitamins; while microbiological industry is an extremely profitable industry for the country.” shared Prof. Nguyen Lan Dung - chairman of Vietnam Society for Biology



Bio Danang2015 gathered international and Vietnamese scientists, researchers, university professors, and graduate students to share the common goals of academic exchanges and cooperation enhancement in technological scientific research in this important sector.
